you're forgetting one aspect tho: modding. someone deaf could create something decent following rhythm sheets and then get opinions from experienced mappers around the community (they should probably add that they're deaf :x). they could point out things that aren't doable without hearing. so yeah, as long as the people you get to mod your map are competent you could actually create maybe anything? as someone deaf. next: osu!mapping: without visuals
@misterdinner36486 жыл бұрын
Im quite late, but a deaf person could make the first version of their map, and modders could make the physical changes that the mapper approves of. Then the modder can send the modded piece back to the mapper in some way.

People who are deaf can't hear but they can still feel, and tho it would be hard for you to have music playing loud enough feel it without also hearing it some what, it would help a lot in mapping it, as well as audio to midi converters what can do pretty well finding key points and audio graphs being available in other programs , a deaf person could get a lot more familiar with the song while mapping

Come on, am I the only one who knows about the vuvuzela mapset ? Am I this old ? There was a 40+map mapset (though I may be exaggerating, but it was a hell lot) with a 15 seconds vuvuzela sound. People basically mapped many different well known rhythms on this "deaf" sound, such as the main Mario theme and Rolling Girl. Like you had to actually listen to the whistle hitsound to understand what you were playing. I'm pretty sure I deleted the mapset years ago though, because originally, a friend just bamboozled me into this. And I can't know if it is still available. Anyway, deaf mapping has existed in the past but probably just couldn't make its way through 2010.

i got a challenge for you pishi, can you map a map that will suit multiple songs? you could either find a base song map it and then find another song that would fit and edit the map so it's more accurate for both songs or (the harder way) deaf map it in a very general way and then find 2 songs that will fit it. i think there's enough dnb songs that could really share the same beatmap if someone bothered enough

Wait... no. Beethoven did compose some of his music while completely deaf. It wasn't all of it but by his 7th symphony, it was starting to affect him. By the time he got to the 9th (Which is the one that has the famous 'ode to joy') he couldn't hear at all. But... yeah, he got to know music before going deaf. Source: Asking a conductor after a 7th symphony performance.

I actually don't use sheet music often, because most of what I map does not have sheet music available online. I usually either use MIDI files as reference (considering those have perfect precision) or map by ear by listening at 25% speed. To what I can recall, I have only used sheet music once: for my Partita in F. That was mostly because I composed the piece, and used it alongside the MIDI file to create the closest thing I could to a perfectly accurate representation in Mania (which limits the map in that the amount of keys is vastly smaller than that used in the actual piece).

what if you where to use MIDI files to either A: create a piece of sheetmusic with just 2 instruments or B: autogenerate the rythm, i actually tried this by routing a midi file through a max4live plugin for ableton that on ANY midi input plays the same midi note. (so every note was converted to C3.) then i routed that through bomes midi translator which translated it into the scrollock key. sadly osu couldnt pick this up so i used autohotkey in admin mode to convert the scrollock key into one of the taiko keys. which can then be used for input while the song is playing. although this obviously doesnt handle spacing or sliders AT ALL.
