can you make a video about spacing consistency? I don't get why people are shooting down my maps because they complain that it's not consistent with the spacing and idk what they mean when it looks fine to me. like if I put more consistent spacing I lose some of my structural things like blankets.. I think that would be a helpful video

I'm not sure if you already made a video about how people map, because I do know that there are so many common mapping styles, yet even if it's considered as their "everyday mapping style" it has at least something slightly different from others. it could be placing, visuals, jumps, and timing, etc. Like you, pishi, mentioned that you focused on many things by steps. I want to know what you personally think about how mappers differentiate from other mappers
@tastycarbonara
@tastycarbonara 6 жыл бұрын
When you already memorize every word in this video but you still can't make decent jumps. I am a PP farmer, which oftenly plays jumps (pp map) rather than "plz enjoy game" maps. Jumps that I've made doesn't feel right. My muscle memory of jumping can't follow the jumps that I've made myself. Even when playing newly downloaded maps, I can still instinctively by reflection hit the jumps normally (a.k.a I can read it and the pattern is guess-able). When it comes to my own map, I can't hit shit even though it's in my difficulty play range.

I always wonder if ( but I'm pretty sure that ) deetz being the example of the dumb modder and mapper in general is a joke between you two. Right? Or do you actually showcase him as that? You guys make those mods and responses for the purpose of the video, right? xd ( just asking cause as you can see, many others think otherwise )

At the end of the video, you say that you wish more maps could go beyond the basics of conventional jumps. What are some examples of maps that do this? Or, I suppose, what are unconventional jumps? (also thank you so much for all of the stellar content you put out)
@vegardstein7730
@vegardstein7730 7 жыл бұрын
Are you ever going to make a video regarding the different modifiers(AR, OD etc)? I mean it mostly seems pretty obvious, but maybe mappers think of them differently than I do. At least it seems that way sometimes(though I might just suck at reading).

would having jumps after strong sounds be acceptable as long as they're used consistently through the entire map/in a section of a song?

Would you agree with jumps that are specifically made to be random? (Of course, it would be clear enough and it would be an attempt to focus on the song)
@Nudgarrobot
@Nudgarrobot 7 жыл бұрын
Are you talking about something like, the song portrays someone as insane or out of control, and you intentionally map around the given section where it occurs semirandomly? That seems like an interesting gimmick in theory but it could just end up being a pile of crap in the end.
@pocket4465
@pocket4465 7 жыл бұрын
As an example, possibly a section that seems to have strange or weird sounds (see something like 'cherry blossoms exploding on the dying horizon'). Not a good example I'm sure, but the thing I was going for was to represent genres or feelings of music (like some shiirn maps)
@mrdeppelman
@mrdeppelman 7 жыл бұрын
You still need to take spacing, visuals and flow into account, not make them completely random. For example, a messy section could be represented by more messy visuals, but the spacings and flow should still make sense.

Hey pishi, I watched your video about the Loved category again and I need to ask you a question: You said that in the love category bad maps can included aswell. But when player vote these maps to the loved category, they can't be that bad, cause the players love them and play them.

RockStyle well just because something was voted for by the community doesn't mean it's good, it's like saying Inferno is the best map because that one 2016 map of the year, while there is definately better maps. People can and will have a shit taste in some thing, sometimes a minority, sometimes a majority, or the system is broken (2016 map of the year).

"good" is subjective. that means what you consider as "good" may and will not be "good" for other people as well. "good" is defined as something that, when interacting with a person, makes said person consider that something as aesthetically or technically pleasant. now, what said person defines as good may differ from what another person defines as good as well. everything is subjective and can vary between being "good" and being "bad". that's why loved section mostly has beatmaps that people love but that other people don't really like as well.

hi pishifat, i think a lot of "well known mappers" are over-theorizing mapping (just like you in some videos). we are at a point where people go "Oh i spaced this not as much even tho it clearly plays shitty. But at least it fits the song". i think thats a bad trend we have developed (not me tho hehe xd)
