The greatest thrust required and most fuel consumed is at take off working to lift over 300 tons of load off the ground, once that’s established and maintained, full throttle is no longer needed. Engines were not designed to remain at full power for a long time rather than it will reduce their life time. The higher the plane flies the faster it goes through the air particles and less fuel it burns for one reason. Air is so thin at higher altitudes. It’s just physics put into art.

That view crossing the coastline at BIscayne Bay is still special, but many more tall buildings are now downtown, more complex expressways are now operating, and that town is far gone in memory. Thrust reduction happens with and without noise abatement. The only difference is when the reduction and the acceleration for flap retraction happen. Engines are not designed to maintain take off thrust for a long time.

I couldnt get 10 minutes of sleep. Very noisy cabin. Probably interiors were not dampening the sound properly I dont know. It was a 777. On the retunr one, there was a cracking sound everytime the wing flexed bad due to tubulence. I know that is not the wing, just plastics moving ... still it was like a joke. I love this beasty sound, but 10 hours onboard with -10 legroom you start to hate everything. I them took a 3 hour combination in a pretty old AA jet, probably a 737, leg room was like a mansion. Aircraft take off at 28 seconds almost without exception. High altitude may add a few seconds. But from the time the engines spool up and the beast starts its roll, count 28 seconds, and it's off. Years ago I flew on a Mexican DC6 (prop) from Mexico City to Merida. Mexico City's airport is at 7300', and the props don't have the power of the jets. That plane rolled on and on and on to the extent I thought we were going to taxi all the way to Merida! Eventually, it developed lift and the pilot yanked the wheels off when we were about 10 feet off the ground! The end of the runway passed beneath us. Gawd what a nail biter.

@palonazo7 жыл бұрын
ron oswald What you just said makes zero sense.
@palonazo7 жыл бұрын
ron oswald I meant what you said makes no sense. You said you can't see the wings because you can only flex metal so much till it breaks. As if material stress depended on you seeing it happen. Airplane wings can flex A LOT. In fact, far more than the most extreme flight conditions would ever bend them. They're tested. Also, nobody cares if you fly first or coach.
@FredtheDorfDorfman19855 жыл бұрын
@@palonazo yea, in testing they clamp a test wing's root into a large clamp, and use a large hydrolic piston to bend the wing tip up until finally around an upward bend angle of about 70 degrees the wing spar fails with a loud bang! The whole test rig jumps and shutters when it happens. That's a lot of flex and energy that it takes to break a modern airliner wing, especially if it includes titanium and composites that flex more easily than aluminum. That's why new aircraft development costs so much money. Test wings to bend and break, fuselages and windows to blow up for pressure, decompression, and bird strike tests, and landing gear to slam down on hard touchdown test rigs. Just like the engine industry taking expensive turbofan engines and destroying them in blade out tests to see if the casing contains the loose blade(s), ya have to know what it takes to destroy an aircraft/engine so you'll know if they'll be safe.

Maybe this is a dumb question, but in nearly all of these takeoff videos on different channels, the camera stays centered on the engine. On some videos it takes up almost all of the frame. Are the photographers not interested in the scenery? The engines are just sitting there and not going anywhere
@FlyHighPhotography7 жыл бұрын
MrCrapmatic not a dumb question at all in my opinion! I can say for me, my focus, or passion if you will is for the airplane. The scenery is secondary for me and a plus in some cases but not all that important. With that said, sometimes the scenery ties into what is going on with the airplane, I guess a good example would be like landing into St. Maarten and seeing Maho Beach from the plane. Seeing the plane from an engineers perspective working the way it was designed it pretty cool too, watching the wing flex and the engine move on the pylon, extremely geeky just but still kinda cool. In the end though the focus is still the plane. It's a little strange I'll admit but it's just one of those things.

Herbert Carillo I just use my iPhone 6S and to keep it stable I basically hold the phone in my hands keeping my hands as a buffer between the window and the camera. If you don't do that, and just push the camera against the window, you'll pick up all the awful vibrations. Hope that helps/makes sense!
