Another amazing podcast for her, greetings are so useful in our daily routing, the ones could identify polite, also impolite people and break the ice. Thanks very kind.

I'm Spaniard. No doubt in my case that sometimes I've got confused when someone has ever asked me "Hey, how is it going? in English, and I wasn't pretty sure if they were really meaning that question or it was just a quick wave 🙂 Now after this lesson I'll be maybe more confident about what to reply them! Thanks AnneMarie

This video is very helpful. Although I live in the US and use "How are you" every day, I haven't noticed that people ask me twice if they want to know how I've been doing. Generally, I can tell if the counterpart is interested in knowing more about my day or well-being from their expression or voice tone. Next time, I'll pay closer attention to the expression.

As a foreigner the "Aha" moment came to me the day a policeman stopped me on the road as I was driving and I said "Good night" instead of "Good evening " :) Great lesson Anne Marie! Thank you.

Wow! Greeting is really an art! Typically, I hear some people greeting as "Hi, how ARE you?' followed by the response, "Hi, great, how are YOU?, (with the capitals here mimicking the intonation.) Is it a common pattern?
@Speakconfidentenglish Жыл бұрын
It certainly is. It's common to use rising intonation at the end of a question that seeks a quick response such as yes/no/good/great and so on. I have a full lesson on common intonation patterns that may be helpful: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nnbHfmaFfNmUh8U

I know you are in the USA Anne Marie but you could've slipped in the classic Australian greeting, G'day or better still G'day mate. I'm yet to hear an American say it properly. haha

@Speakconfidentenglish6 ай бұрын
Hi there. To confirm you are asking for the meaning of 'duly noted,' is that right? When someone response with 'duly noted' it means that something has been acknowledge or received and it has been considered.
