Thank you for being so comfortable and honest. My brother was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when he was 7 or 8 years old. This was very difficult for my family because my dad's brother had this disease and passed away due to complications so this was very scary at the time. Obviously there were many days were we all day a the hospitals and He is doing great with it now and there has been some complication but nothing that we haven't gotten through with. I hope my story makes you feel at peace

your parents sound like the kind that we should all strive to be. my boyfriend's little brother had leukemia at age 4 (he is now a healthy 8th grader) and he inspires me to keep doing community service and reaching out to children in hospitals in my community. your parents must be so proud of you :)

I'm glad you shared this with us because you've only mentioned it briefly and now we like know what you had to go through and I just think it's amazing how you made it through and can talk about it so strongly now! by the way,I love your shirt! ;) oh and I think it's good that your parents didn't tell you that your disease was deadly because I think if they told you, you would've just been sad and more weak so that wouldn't have been a good thing.. love you! xoxo

wow blair... beautiful story. made me cry. I know what its like. I have been sick with Lyme disease for 3 years and have been bed ridden. Also i have C-diff at the moment which is a bad bacteria infection of the intestines. Being ill and close to death (which i have been) changes your perspective so much on life. You appreciate things so much more then the average person. So glad your ok.

In Romania: kindergarten from 4 yrs to 6 yrs in a kindergarten, from 1st grade to 8th grade another school, 9th grade to 12 th grade one school, and college depends. The same college for 3, 4, 5 or 6 years. The same one. Depending on specialization. You're right about getting that particular E-Coli from the lake - the one that you find in food is not as deadly.

when I was 6 or 7, I can't recall the age right now, I had to go to the hospital for weeks multiple times. The longest I had to stay was three weeks because of pneumonia. My dad used to sit with me while my mum took care of my brothers and I did have a room mate who also had pneumonia and whenever I had to get back to the hospital I was always roomed with him until I got better after a year or so and then he died. :( He was like my best friend back then...
