I got to see the Temptations back in 2007 in Lemoore CA. I actually got to meet Otis. He is one of THE NICEST people I have ever met. He is a legend but you would never know it by talking to him. He is so down to earth and just like everyone else. Long live Mr. Otis Williams. If anyone has not seen the 1998 made for TV movie, the Temptations, please look it up. It is a GREAT film and very emotionally charging.

The Temps were my favorite group growing up. I was fortunate to have seen them live in concert a couple of times. I have about 13 of their albums/CDs. With the exception of Otis Williams, all of the original members died young.

Otis already did the 1998 miniseries that was based on his 1988 autobiography of the group. But the producers didn’t really give him control of how it was made. That led to lawsuits by his ex-wife Josephine, Melvin Franklin’s mother Mama Rose, and David Ruffin’s family.

The year 1965 was after the signing of the civil rights act which had a lot to do with attempting to eliminate the evils in society.

They show you a glimpse of that in the Temptations movie where they played at a gig where there were blacks on one side and whites on the other and then by the time they came back to that very same place the Rope was gone and everyone was dancing with each other and it didn't matter who was black and who was white

IMO - Segregation was a terrible thing. I have read where some white performers told hotel managers that they would not stay there if their black friend(s) could not. They would cancel their reservations on the spot. God less you, Mr. Williams.
