Those Otter are tough! I caught one at a beaver house in a 330, I had set for Beaver. The Otter broke the wire I had the trap tied off with and i found him expired about 15 yards away on the shore. Nice video!

what is the smallest trap you would use for otter
@trapsetting1017 жыл бұрын
I've caught plenty in number 2s. I really like the double long springs for otters. I would for sure recommend something with closed jaws rather than offset.

At 7:07 would be a great place for a conibear half way up if you are allowed to set them on land there . Happy holidays to you and yours .

My state allows it if the rivets are submerged. Still, it produced 2 otters and 2 beavers the way I had it. I actually prefer footholds on slides because I get less refusals. I get why you're thinking that way though.

I wish i had streams like that here. Mainly open saltwater. Have a good log that the otter love and got some traps on it yesterday. Hopefully will connect soon. Had to get two otters off the log so i could set them up.

I respect what you do . Am a trapper myself with my son ho is learning from daddy. He's 6 . The one thing I do gotta ask ya buddy and I see in most of your videos ya post u never mostly wire things . I get the water is low or can can get hung up. On stuff. Are u really close to were u are trapping so if have too u can back wire things up . I get the conibears kill fast . Butt u no when a front as in weather can just pop up .. and it's like o crap. Lol . We all work . And do this for the love of it. It's no disrespect. Here. Buddy . Butt way not do it right first time . Sorry like I said just wondering bud. God bless and keep chains tight.
@trapsetting1012 жыл бұрын
I don't mind you asking at all. If you look real close you'll see wires on the ends of most of my chains. If I'm in shallow water where there aren't any deep holes around I don't worry about it. Also, I keep an eye on the weather. If I'm gonna get a storm I tie them off. You can see this in one of my videos, I just don't remember which. Valid comment and concern.

Hello there, I am sorta new to trapping but I have had good luck so far. Looking at getting some traps and wonder are offset jaws better or regular. Thank u. Good luck on your 2018-2019 year!
@trapsetting1015 жыл бұрын
sorry for the late reply. For beavers and otters I never use offset jaws. For land critters they work pretty well.

Hey what's the best way to catch a yote if he's digging my trap up ? I'm confused on this I've caught yotes with the traps before and they are pretty secure

What's wrong with the hole in the bank and log otters in my experience will inspect every hole they come across where the 660 is set

I've tried that, it just hasn't been as good of a producer for me as narrowing down the pinch points.

Brother is there good trapping in the back country of the Rocky mountains? I'm making my way to Beartooth mountains out near Red Lodge Montana. I plan on being there this summer and living in that area the rest of my life. I know someone will see my post and comment. I plan on running several trap and snare lines. I also know it's hard work and I've done it. I love trapping! I guess I am chasing my dream. Along the way while I'm out there I'll have to scout it out. But if you know anyone out in that area who traps I'd kinda like to know if it productive. Most places are trapped out and played out. Not to mention the tree huggers giving us a bad name. No worries I'm gonna have fun. Just me my blueticks and the bears.

If youre trapping in Missouri It's illegal to put a connibear above ground.
@trapsetting1015 жыл бұрын
First, I didn't set anything above ground, second the law states that the rivets have to be submerged, which they were. You may want to freshen up on your Mo laws.

Hey man, i appreciate you alot, but i really hope at the end you use their bodies for good, etc to skin them and cook, then eat.
