Is Joe Greblo the guy who used to go by the nickname "Hang Czech"? I used to fly hang gliders, many years ago. I still have my Bennett Pro-Air 180 hanging in my rafters (Toys in the attic?). I'm heavy enough to fly it now - back in the mid 1980's, I was a bit too light for it, but managed just fine.

It's a shame there isn't much of a slope at Dockweiler, probably enough for an RC glider, but doesn't seem to be enough for hang gliders. I can remember when there used to be more spots up and down the California coast to fly both: Saltcreek in Laguna, The Strand in Dana Point, The point at Crystal Cove, etc... Now everything is built out and shut out, nothing but fences with No Trespassing signs.

Interesting ! as I fly kites, I have allready read that you could not apply the aerodynamic rules established for thick profiles to one skin wings. Here is a total demonstration. Kites are much better at high angles and slow speeds. I think it is an effect of scale. The air flow leaves the upper skin allways at the same distance, whatever the scale is so that never happens on small machines. Needs expert approbation or not (only if they demonstrate).
@ucrash26 жыл бұрын
Also, look at apect ratio, like "The flying pancake" for a full scale example. I fly r/c, the "pizza box" plane loves high angles of attack too. Loads of fun.
