@@dumbking4253 everything was set up to be fair, they picked and east coast server to minimize ping of all involved, they actively listened to the complaints during the event and tried so hard to appease both sides. Maybe some of the communication was lost in translation, but quitting is just unacceptable for people who do this for a living. The attitude they showed just negated any validity of their complaints. Sure they may have been disadvantaged by some events, but the whole thing was winnable had they decided to just continue on despite perceived unfairness. It was an insult to all involved, even their teammates who worked so hard to try and catch up, to just quit in the middle of it for reasons which may be easily resolved and talked over.

I only watched a bit of the event but I 100% agree with the reply to the tweet at 11:00 from Chotski. The small Spanish streamers put in so much work and so many hours to the event and then the bigger ones quit. I wonder how much discussion they actually had with everyone? If those smaller streamers even had much say in any of this

From some of the clips and vids it seems like it was like 10 big Spanish streamers complaining and arguing with Alex (Spain team captain) and no one else could really get a word in between those 10 baby raging. Yeah it sucks for the small Spanish streamers. Now because the whole team quit they don’t get the recognition for their hard work. The Spanish streamers were too prideful I guess, once they started getting destroyed they wanted to preserve their pride by just leaving. They didn’t care about twitch or Spain or their team. They only cared about their individual image.

The worse part is that it doesnt matter how bad other ppl feel for them Or how many ppl say the whole "bad apples" thing They completely dragged the rest of the spanish streamers down with them n that's how the majority is going to think about them Whether we like it or not, it still gives them *all* bad rep. @@RudyTheNinja agreed. I hope in the future, twitch invites the smaller Spanish streamers back. Some of them were actually nice and good people. You can tell some just wanted to be a part of the event and have fun. And I kinda understand why if the big streamers were saying “we all need to log off” they would follow. Those are the OTV OTK streamers of the Spanish community. You know? They are big with a lot of influence. If you go against them it’s literally like you are going against all the Spanish viewers and streamers. And who’s going to help you when your stream is tanking in views because all the Spanish viewers view you as a traitor? Or because the big Spanish streamers view you as a traitor? Even if there was a language barrier, there clearly is a mediator or moderator to settle these issues and explain everything to both sides. It is not like the rules weren't laid out before the event was organised. They knew the stakes, the times, the timezones, the players and so on. They had all the information yet they blame the the other team and the organisers for not understanding their predicament. This is one of the first proper team gauntlets I have seen in awhile where different perspectives were so fun and interesting but it seems sometimes, people don't see it as just a game. As far as the mediating goes, the translator was just incompetent at best(during the broadcasted talk after they had disconnected). They obviously did not have all the information as when you watch their streams it's like a whole different game is being played, where the NA team is the one breaking the rules. Just because the rules are being understood by the team that speaks the language they are being drafted in does not being they are being understood by the other team. Given the way they handled translation while trying to handle a dispute that could've ended the event, I have no reason to think that they did a good job of communicating the rules to the other team. Is it really so hard to conceive of miscommunication happening?

Rust can never be an eSport, just due to the fact of it's game design. It's like an MMO, where the player who spends the most time, usually has the advantage.
@Nickolai20599
@Nickolai20599 2 жыл бұрын
@@bullfrog521 Isn't that the same for most games though, more time investment = better odds of winning / advantage. Long sessions naturally can be hard for people, but that's just the game. In test cricket, the play usually lasts for about 7 hours and 30 minutes each day and the matches are played over 5 days. The difference here is that this wasn't two pro teams going at one another, it's streamers. It's supposed to be a fun event with lots of *content* creators, not pro athletes necessarily. Any game can be an esport if done right, this event just by its nature and intent isn't really that.
@bullfrog521
@bullfrog521 2 жыл бұрын
@@Nickolai20599 The time spent outside the match, improving you skills, is not the same as the time you spend in a rust 'match', in which more time spent in rust can give you more resources than your opponent. So basically the team that requires less sleep will have an advantage. No sport has ever test your endurance on staying awake, when it's actually bad for your health to be sleep deprived. If they had setup the tournament where all the players had to leave the server at a certain time, in order for all players to sleep, and then on the next day, everyone is allowed to log back in at the same time. Then Rust could be an actual esport. But then this wouldn't be really fair in this situation because of players having different time zones. And this is no longer the original game, but a modded version to turn it into an eSport

Reasons why Spanish team quit 1. They were accusing NA team of cheating which turned out to be false. e.g. accusing Toast of getting a free gun by admins when it was actually toast's gun in the first place. Toast had to watch his own stream to get the AK skin but he doesnt so he asked the admin to skin his gun that he crafted. 2. Spanish team accused NA team of getting preferential treatment from Admin team. e.g. Admin disabled oil rig event which gave 100 dogtags (points) and instead let teams fight for crates which would give 20% of total dogtags. The crates would significantly give more points over time. So, if there 10,000 dogtags total at the time, the team who got the crate would get 2,000 points. Teams were given the time of when they were spawned so they could plan for it ahead of time. 3. Spanish team felt that timezones were unfair. The reality is -- its a 48hour event. NA had alot degens that stayed for 12hours straight just farming. There werent much Spanish streamers who would do the same. TLDR: NA team was better communicating with their team. Both sides had their pros and newbies. Spanish team had a poor understanding of the rules and win condition. They could have literally won the game if they did the last event which was a free-for-all raid. Their team was so downbad that the admins offered to give them rockets and guns to raid the NA team.

Complaining about timezones in a nonstop 48 hour event doesn’t make much sense. I can understand being tilted and complaining about lag in the moment, but when you actually agreed to the server ahead of time it’s kinda dumb to keep bringing it up. Stuff like people getting ddosed is a very valid issue to raise. Both sides have sweats and casuals. Both sides had streamers with big egos. There were some rule issues with both sides, but rage quitting an event that took months of planning for some people is still extremely stupid and immature. It’s especially stupid when admins offered to give you weapons and resources for the final raid, and when it was legitimately still winnable. Team spain wasn’t prepared for a 48 hour straight event. Rust is still an extremely difficult game to have as an esport.

I can't see how different time zones don't matter when most of the events (or boxes, I don't remember what it was exactly) where drop in NA time, wheater it's a 48 hours competition or not it is still a huge advantage for them. Also about the end I think you missed the point, it wasn't about winning, it was about them feeling mistreated and treated unequaly, if they really really wanted to win they could have continued (for what I know there was still a chance for them) and even have spent as much time playing as NA, they just wanted to have fun and due to how things were they didn't feel motivated, id someone in a event feels that they is made fun of over and over again, would you blame them for being done with that? Bringing them weapons and etc... didn't really help because is not what that wanted, they wanted the same treatment

About the fact that they chose to play/grind far more time it dosen't matter, in fact none of us care, that they win because they compite harder? Then great, congratulations, you deserve it. It was never the point, the thing is that the crates being generally more closer to their times is a clear advantage weather they play more or not, if they chose to play the same time as, let's call it Ñ team, they would still have an advantage, it is not about winning or losing, it is about having the same opportunities, and they did not, weather NA chose to make more use of it by playing more or not, they weren't at the same conditions, that's the point. And about Ricoy the only thing that I saw was him saying retard, wich was out of context, for what I've seen this word is a bit of a taboo over there when here it's the other way around, here it dosen't have that impact and it is use far more, basically it was the same that saying "are you dumb?", here it has the same meaning, also it is worth noting that he said that after things that NA were saying in chat and after hours and hours of confrontations

The sad part about this whole event after watching this vid is that all the streamers who were invited from both NA and Spain are kinda like the pro to semi-pro streamers and watching attitude like this from the Spanish team's part is some what sad as they literally went through a loss of respect from the audience not only in their own regions but worldwide... At the end of the day, everyone tries to host an event as best as they could but its really unprofessional of you and your team to drag things and admins which transpires in a game to social media and call them illiterate gamers who have no idea of the real world and try to paint a picture where you are the victim and your opponent is toxic where in reality, many of your own teammates are also acting toxic in the server.

In the end, they're just trying pity themselves and cry. They give up and have no sportsmanship. A 48 hour long server fight gives no benefit to either region. The server ping was slightly on the NA side, it was the best server they could pick and was agreed on. The server rules were layed out completely from the start and weapons your not allowed to use are literally disabled. I just don’t get it??? Why quit when the admins and the leader of the other time are doing there absolute hardest to ensure a fair and fun game? One of the admins was up for 20 hours straight listening to people shouting in his ear and the thanks he gets for all his hard work is the entire team quitting before the end????? It’s painfully disrespectful for the entire team to just up and quit. I hope next time an event like this happens those on the Spanish side man the hell up and play it till the end. It wasn’t unfair or biased against them, they just got mad over twig breaking, heli getting stolen far and square and letting their base get so much disrepair from neglect that they couldn’t handle losing and rage quit. I know they can do better, there are some dedicated players on the Spanish side. The fights were epic and the content was amazing! Show us your true colours Spanish Streamers! I stayed up wayyyyy too late watching a lot of this event and some of what those tweets said were flat out crap. The spanish team started off spawm killing then the whole revolver and python thing was goofy. I was watching when the accusations started flying and the admins were asked for clarification as soon as the complaining started. The person they accused of using the python first was not even at the monument they claimed it happened at and the admins flat out approved pythons. I heard the entire team yelling to not use them if anyone had up until the admins approved their use. The whole "press" thing was distracting and suss as hell. The spanish team were camping crate spawns as well. There were a couple of people that seemed to be toxic players on Toasts team but most of the accusations against his team are just wrong. I admittedly dod not watch it ALL because who could, and it is impossible to watch everyone at once but you could hear most of what was going on through voice chat anyway. There were some viewers that started trying to meta-game and were called out immediately even by the resy of chat. Blooprint even went as far as changing his chat setting to keep people that were not established followers and trusted from even being able to post comments. From the beginning almost the spanish team were complaining, so their behavior does not really surprise me that much but quitting does. That should be actionable by the organizers. Any time you get that many differemt people and different personality types together you are guranteed to have a couple of shitheads, but the vast majority were doing their best to not only play right, but also hold eachother accountable.

Same bud, I watched well over 20hrs of this event all live. I sadly missed the last day as I was traveling. I’m a viewer from the EU side (UK) and was watching multiple NA streams as I’m not spanish speaking. Anyway, I thought all and all it was a fun event! I thought admins had it rough… There were many things that didn’t cross their mind as being an issue, such as the beginning with the wooden base being breakable by simple retaliation of shots. I do get the python situation being a lil weird. Hjune one of the rust pros on NA side kept on saying that himself too, but the admins confirmed it was approved multiple times before they used them. Not to mention that as you said, nobody at oil rig even had a python 😅 Then I had just missed the part later on when spain did the illegal raid way deeper than 2 doors on NA base, but that was another fiasco. For some reason on the compromise NA had to give up the heli even though they won it fairly… It was kinda downhill from there as spain seemed to be kinda salty then on. It’s a shame since spain did start so well and it seems like the wood tactics being a lil cheeky on top of just the complaints then on, they kinda gave up playing and just went with the drama route.

I was out of the loop but this whole thing seems like a bad idea. Nothing in this whole event was fair to begin with, the "NA team" played rust before and even had "Rust pros", the Spanish team wasn't in on the Rust meta before so I'd give them the benefit of the doubt and seemed like they played the game "how is it suppose to". This whole event expected to be competitive was online and not LAN, ofc there's going to be complaints. On top of dividing the teams according to language and culture, ofc the subject of "racism" is going to seep in (because "culturism" isn't a word so theyre going to use racism). "NA community" is complaining that the "Spanish community" is complaining. Like what? Ya'll the same.

@@xsael8501 The Spanish streamers had plenty of good players, they just didn't commit any real effort, so they lost in the later stages. Spain demanded rules be made on the spot, then broke those rules when they got inconvenient for them. And there wasn't anything that was directed at them for being Spanish, it was them being whiners and hypocrites. If they view whining as being a Spanish stereotype, they need to grow up. Half the complaints in those tweets are things the Spanish did first, had it returned on them, and complained about to admins to make it a rule. The clips that people are using to accuse NA of admin favouritism are from after Spain gave up and the admins just wanted to give viewers something fun to watch, so they gave out items to use.

??? The event was being planned since January. The rules were available/made clear to both sides. They were just broken repeatedly- by one side, so they had to be adjusted (as what happens in first time events). Those adjustment, even tho agreed to by the spanish, is what led them to up and quit, along with other excuses.

@saitama...4959 2 жыл бұрын
I get you’re point but the point of the rules is to make it as fair as possible. Yeah, it doesn’t make it a true “Rust” experience but it kinda balances out most of the things. Imagine this: they are complaining about having to use primitive weapons, but then they used a revolver. They did complain about that, and the python and other stuff but imagine if we have this “Rust” Pro player’s especially People like Coco, Welyn, Hjune, etc. Who not only farm like crazy but also play non stop rust. They would have M2 at the start of the game while the Spanish rust pro players would have ak and the new people would be running around everywhere trying to at least survive. They would quit almost instantly and that wouldn’t make things “fun” and get good content for “everyone.” Thats why adding limitations and rules to a event like this is the best way for everyone to get content. Remember this isn’t your normal rust players these are content creators who search for content and dying over and over again is not fun for some, and balancing things out like making bases 15 by 15 and unbreakable while not being able to raid is the best option. Guns as well they are making it as fair as possible and they manage to do it and it was a quite fun event overall it had it’s flaws but at the end of the day everyone got their content. So in others words… They are content creators not normal players, so it means they search for content unlike the normal players. This event is about having fun and getting tons of content and playing by normal rust rules wouldn’t benefit everyone, but just the veteran rust players who would bully everyone. Edit: Hope this comment is able to clarify most of your confusion, and i hope we both don’t end up in a heated argument like most of the times in KZbin comments.

So the truth is welp we can't know the full story cause most of spains Vods are gone so no we can't put a timeline on who did what and when to see who the real a hole is in this however I think its spain for 2 simply facts deleted vods (= guilt) and leaving a 48 hour event before its finished no matter the circumstances thats not ok unless your being belittled and degraded which i didn't see the N/A team do i did see spain do this to N/A though weather knowing the weight of the R word or not its still unacceptable to call someone stupid in this kind of setting. The fact they had not 1 but 2 rule changes to base raiding during the event is laughable should have never happened and only came after N/A followed the rules that they thought where set in place by spain. Honestly the whole event was a disaster and should have been handled way differently from the start as in commitment contracts to each team member, set in stone rules and more explained rules. From what I've seen and understand the base's werent supposed to be breakable by the opposing team so it wasn't a rule necessarily but a server setting that got fd up, the fact that this went so far and caused so much drama just plain sucks and it looks to me that one team came there to just shit on another while the other just came for the content but eh what do i know Latam will say im just a stupid american meh GFSF

I dont even know what to say rn. Before coming to US and knowing Toast I watched the Spain community a lot (since I'm Hispanic) and I know that when it comes to video games and rust, rage is the main source of drama. I wont excuse tha Spain team because I know they are competitive and can get toxic and i also wont ask to understand them because it's on everyones nature to react when attacked. But in this case, knowing Alexby for a while, he was trying to make things work out, he would always hear complaints of his team about the US one and he tried to make it work, but they didn't act as expected. They know about the lag and server so they can't use it as excuse. HOWEVER, the language part I agree. Even though they know English its not their strength meaning they wont choose appropriate words (for me who learned in 4 years) and it will sound bad for Toast and the others. In addition, Toasts's team was also at fault for not confirming the usage of things with administration causing the "drama". They just assumed and didn't asked anything at all about the rules. What I'm trying to say it's that both were at fault in their ways but it needed more planning than given to just be a fun event. Its a shame it it didnt go as planned since it took so long, this could've united more cultures and stereotypes but it was rust after all.
