An average haircut at a local barber can easily cost £15 and upwards. To get one for less than two quid is amazing! China is definitely a great country to live or retire in. They have everything that you need. It's convenient and safe, and your savings will stretch out further there.

you should try KFC as their menu is much more unique compared to the US. KFC in China is closer to Mcdonalds in the UK as compared to a kfc in the UK or US.

2:18 I'm from HK, and I've actually been to this exact mall 5 times since COVID ended, Partyday is actually a huge arcade with lots of activities inside. The zoo, laser tag arena and VR shops were fun too😄 It gets really busy in the weekends, but weekdays less people because the residential areas are far away.

This mall is in the office district and not too many people after office hours . You will find a lot more people in Shopping Malls above the subway stations in Shenzhen . Try to go to Malls above the "Convention & Exhibition Center Station" and you will see a lot of people .

LukFook is a Hong Kong brand so is a Cantonese transliteration. It sort of means "Six Fortune". It is almost pronounced as you did but in Cantonese the final consonant 'k' is clipped rather like how a cockney would say it. Of you are ever in Hong Kong there is also a ladies fashion chain called "Wanko".

Really glad you did not go in to that “zoo” I took my girls in there and regretted it almost right away. The goats and pigs etc which are small are ok and ducks rabbits, but they have larger animals and they are clearly distressed in a big way in dirty smelly conditions. Shenzhen however is brilliant and I hope you visit/visited some of the tourist attractions like the science museum or theme parks etc as they are next level. My Aunt lives in Shenzhen so we spend a fair bit of time there and in Nanning. You can get anything done on the street.. hair cuts… tie nail cuts…massage etc Keep enjoying , I live in Cardiff by the way.

So the sound is closer to "low-k folk" (sorry, limitation the English alphabet of having only 26 letters and no umlauts to indicate tone) but it's not exact. Chinese languages, when romanised, mostly just "sounds similar" but not exactly the way it's supposed to sound. I guess whoever "translated" it thought LUK is "close enough" 😀 六福 in Mandarin sounds like "lee-ew foo", or, in English, "The 6 Fortunes". Also the phone brand HUAWEI which you had so much trouble saying ... it's more like "wah way" than "Hawa'ii" 🤣🤣 Huawei is a popular enough brand around Asia, and has a significant number of users.

The West is saying you’ll get arrested in China for filming. That’s a joke! I live in China and people are free to film whenever they like. Yes there might be some special case like military base, and other sensible government places which are prohibited. Overall filming is not a problem. Huawei is not only the best phone maker in China, but they are building EV cars. Amazing! Lukfook is a HK base jewelry company. The robot coffee machine also have one that can make your face on the coffee similar to the cat one. The hairdresser lady did an amazing job. Your hair looks great. Just a thought, don't take as offense. Understandable that Westerners (culturally) like to show appreciation with money ("tip"). But, giving tip in a culture that typically don't accept tip ... will have negative impact for future (white) tourists. That is, one will not want to return next year, and realized the local learned the phase "no tip? no tip?". Reminder, all those behaviors (vendors hustling, price gouging, children begging for money) ... there were not traditionally local custom.
