Quality sparring! Yellow headgear is definitely miles apart. Once I saw him pawing at the jab in the first round and doubling up the hooks to the head and body in later rounds, I knew the other guy was done. For someone that aggressive, occupying his high guard is necessary, changing levels and creating angles are a must and by all means, vary the jab... I learnt quite a bit off of this and I have to be honest, im nowhere near even being a novice.
@hansthro Жыл бұрын
Ehima, I've been boxing for years and I never sparred alot and sucked at it but the way you were able to quickly notice detail like doubling hooks and jabs, how do you develop that because I notice when I spar I don't know what the hell is going on and I get brutalized, do you have any ideas how to develop or notice what too throw and what is going on like how you noticed with this match.
@friedbagel6893 Жыл бұрын
@@hansthroif you are talking one on one you can clearly see that black headgear had his guard half low(only on his chin)temples and in this case the left side of his jaw are open to hooks. The problem is to find a hole in his footwork(some point where he just stands still or hesitates,in this fighter’s case right after close range exchanges and clinches) then try yoir luck with one or two,if they land start adding feints to make the next ones land since the opponent has caught up with the fact that you want to throw a hook.
@ehimareaigbokhaevbo9430 Жыл бұрын
@@hansthro I study a lot of fight footage to be honest. Sparring I feel should only be done once one has understood enough fundamentals and technical aspects of boxing. If not, it could be very dangerous in the ring. As to how I noticed certain things, its about watching your opponent for holes in their game... Do they drop their hands? Does their high guard obstruct their vision? Do they have favourite punches they spam? Do they prefer to fight off the backfoot? Do they have shoddy footwork?Things like that. Boxing is both about offense and defence. You want to hit and not get hit. Once you can identify those flaws, the next thing is to understand counters to those flaws and drill them vigorously till they can be utilized in the ring. Knowledge and application must go hand in hand, because application alone without extensive knowledge can create a false sense of security in the ring. I wish you all the best in your boxing journey and hope this helps a bit.
@hansthro Жыл бұрын
Fried and ehima thanks for quality info and ehima what should I start with in sparring is it something I just drill specifically for each situation because doing all that in live sparring is hard althought I've been boxing for like 6+ years. But in live sparring I'm left with just 1-2 or 1 or 3-6 but I don't know what I'm exactly looking for when I spar. Any more recommendations or things I should focus on or practice or drill and how exactly, essentially how to think and learn too anticipate, like before sparring do you have a strategy or do you just anticipate and adjust like low guard or bad footwork or combos to him freezing?

Beautiful inside work at 2:39. Definitely felt that body shot with the 6-3 downstairs and then went with 6-3 to the head when purple dropped his hand to protect the body.
@BeAManPodkast Жыл бұрын
It was actually at 6-11 then a 10-3. Head shots are 1-6, body shots are 7-12.

Purple gloves needed to use the jab more to keep the other boxer away, without a strong, effective jab you cannot keep a pressure fighter off you. Good sparring nonetheless

Very well done from both champs, my only concern is the power behind each of those punches, I thought sparing was just the opposite. Why are they trying to kill each other?
