Incredible! What a unit! A word of advice, You can’t run a wheelie bar with radials because the minute you get up on it the tires will go up in smoke. If you think you need a bar I would say slicks are the way to go because the radials need total weight all the time. The slicks are much more forgiving.

You guys should be proud of what you have built, it is just getting into the first stages of dialing it in and it is obvious that the machine is gonna be a beast when it is all in. Tickles the heck out of me to see this happening for you. I am an old guy, been down the 1/4 a time or two, I think this beast is a bit wilder than you guys planned on, and I don't think you planned on asphalt being a regular thing. I read some of your responses and I am glad you are looking at making the car a safer ride. I don't think any of us who have been with you for the long haul want to see you out kick yer coverage, as it were...

Hard no on wheelie bars with radials. It would just blow the tires off when they touch the pavement. Wheelie bars and bias slicks would be ok. You just need a super good tune that adjusts power through the run. You have a definite 7 second car going. Just need some tuning experience and a good day at the track with no queues.

If you guys are on a radial, you don't want wheelie bars, will unload the tires and they will go up in smoke. Gonna be weight up front and suspension tuning and you may need to take the boost down on launch. Wicked work so far, she has a pile of time left on the table.
@2hacksinashack3 жыл бұрын
Oil soaking an alternator is one of the quickest ways you can kill it. That and trying to charge up a completely dead battery using just the alternator. It’s too much electrical load for the alternator, and you’ll smoke it real quick. Just a heads up. Low voltage can cause lots of problems. Especially on a high performance engine. Might be why you were getting funny TPS data. Just a thought. Even if it was a “cheap” parts store replacement one.

I don’t know if you mentioned wheelie bars or not (aka I think I heard it but I’m not for sure) but if you run a radial and wheelie bars you’ll want to make a point of using the wheelie bar as little as possible to keep load on the radials because radials tend to either hook or not hook while other tire types can slip a little and still keep the car pushing forward.

I'm no racing guy but physics and electrónics are my thing. And have some (maybe very basic ideas) one is to have the front suspension (very) up, and drop drop it right before the time of launch, so you have some momentum opposing your wheelie. And the other is.. a front spoiler? Electronically adjustable so you can have it more aggressive in the first few seconds and then have it almost parallel so it doesn't slow you down
@Fixec3 жыл бұрын
I guess having the engine in the rear you need as much technology as you can get. Because you will keep wheelying all day long at all speeds If you put your foot down with all the boost
