The best thing to kill brambles are goats. Yet a mix of salt and bia degradable dishsoap to be poured on with water would kill the roots... may have trouble growing other things on the area a while though. I kept 3 Goats and a Donkey on a super over grown with Blackberry bramble acre of land they cleared it in a few months.

Just found you on KZbin. We moved to Portugal (Viseu district) in 2011 from the UK and renovated an old farmhouse took us 7 years !! We had four walls no water no electricity no sewerage. We had to dig our solid stone floors out, we used a big electric chisel and it took ages.We also lived in our caravan while renovating. Keep up the good work. Look forward to watching more videos. ASK a neighbour if they’d put their pigs and goats on your land for a while. Goats eat the bramble, the pigs will just plot through the roots and destroy them. It’s the most efficient way I found to get rid of that crap.
@theindieprojects4 жыл бұрын
That would be nice in an ideal world but the area is not fenced and there is no o e local.

@viddergrapho84884 жыл бұрын
Just to throw it out there if you ever wanted farm animals, a mobile fence could help if it were one or two goats. Strong foldable plastic fencing and strong fence spikes. So long as you have a pen, you set up the fence where you want them to tear everything up and let them have at it, when the area is clear you move the fence. This also works great with chickens as bug control, but it would never stand up to something as sturdy as a pig.

Friends in Portugal threw some compost, corn and other food in the areas plagued with brambles and the wild boars came in and copletely cleared the area, roots and all, to get to all the food - it's a nice interchange and once you stop giving them food, they usually won't come again

To prevent the brambles from coming up and kill them back, spray with a strong vinegar, then put down a double layer or triple layer of cardboard or black plastic, then put mulch (wood chips) or dirt on top. It will starve the roots of oxygen and water and they will eventually die off. So lovely to watch your building journey in Portugal!!

First timer, loving it so far ( strange how satisfying it is to see other people work so hard ) Maybe you can use the roof tiles to make a trench roof in case you were planning to start a garden. Dig trenches along the vegetable patches and cover with the broken tiles to preserve water or at least not let the sun dry out the soil to much. Boa sorte 🤗

Get a longer nylon strap, about 10m x 5cm. The most useful one will have a loop sewn into each end. Also get some heavy duty anchor shackles. Go need a full size shovel and a mattock. For the roots, wait until spring when they start growing. Then apply glyphosate. It might take 2 or 3 applications about 10 days apart.
