This is definitely an issue we should talk more about. I have 6 years sober from heroin. But unfortunately I lost my mom and cousin to drug addiction and my father and my sons father are still battling their heroin addiction. So I’ve been a single mom for 6 years. We all need resources, love, support and most importantly God to overcome this darkness. Thank you for this video and your openness!

Jennifer , I can totally relate. I have been sober from heroin for about 20yrs now. I am sorry to hear about the losses in your family. I was lucky enough to have the support of my parents which helped me become sober. Had I not had that, I don't know where I would have been. You are incredibly strong.

We lost our son 8 years ago on the 17th of this month. He became addicted to everything after a breakup with his fiance, that had unknown to him, aborted the child they were expecting. He was a very kind, loving, talented person and his death was such a tragedy . He was on life support in CICU for 10 days before he passed away, it was beyond a nightmare. He taught visually impaired children, played guitar, piano, cello, composed songs, and was involved in our city's opera productions for 15 years. Addiction, any form, is a monster just waiting to take you. Thank you for this video and your honesty....you never know who you will touch. God bless you both.

Thank you for sharing. I lost my 21 year old son to alcohol in 2011. He was a bing drinker and after rehab he stopped drinking for 6 months. Sad to say but he started back up drinking and died because of alcohol. My life will never be the same with him gone. I pray that no other moms have to go through this pain.

Holy smokes you guys! So glad I found you. Came upon this video exactly when I needed it. Like you guys I'm not an acholic but it's always been a big part of my life. Just got the the point recently when I realized its not serving me AT ALL! Also changing to plant base as we speak. Pretty much any negative thing can be attributed to my drinking. Anxiety, hangovers, wrong food choices, weight gain etc. The universe must have sent you to me because I've been loving your videos so much! Keep up the good work!

I love wine and social drinking but I do think it causes my anxiety to increase the days after and it takes me a good three days to get back to my normal. I want to cut it down to only big events like a friends wedding not every Friday Saturday and Sunday... Baby steps. Thanks for the great insight X

Yeah alcohol is a very highly addictive drug. I've struggled with binging. But one thing I've learned is that u don't have to have alcoholism in your family to become addicted. Anyone could develop a addiction. Love how you described the patterns and anxiety and repeating behaviors. I can totally relate !! I am also Vegan as of 6 months ago. I love it! Man everything u guys are saying is so important and very relatable. I love it !!

Thank you for sharing your journey. I struggled with alcoholism in Highschool. I even carried a bottle in my backpack. Looking back I am amazed that I didn’t die from binging as I clearly had alcohol poisoning many times. In college I went cold turkey and quit. I knew I couldn’t work and go to school successfully. I was persecuted terribly by old friends who criticized me for this . It was such a tough time. That next year I came to know Jesus and His love and power have transformed my life. I went many years dry. I had a dry home as I raised my kids. Now as my kids are both in their twenties I have begun occasionally having a glass of wine. We live in wine country and I enjoy the art of winemaking and tasting. It’s very different from my younger years and I know I don’t need alcohol. I have also seen addiction destroy lives and know what a slippery slope it is. I agree a good workout or even a beautiful hike are much more fulfilling then getting drunk. Again thank you for sharing. May God continue to bless your beautiful family ❤️

Love this video! I have stopped drinking and life is so much better sober. It really is. I had to “incubate” as well and I still have a quieter social life for sure but I am content, not hungover, stressed out, anxious nor am I feeling regretful about the night before. I agree Erin, I live an authentic life now and i had to stop drinking to realize the mask I wore was in fact hiding my true personality. I am more in touch with my emotions and I solve my problems and manage my stress...somewhat effortlessly rather than trying to drown out life. Bravo to your brothers...I hope and pray they walk their new path for the rest of their days!!

Thank you for sharing your stories. I quit alcohol over 8 years ago and it was the best decision of my life! I started drinking excessively in college because I didn’t know have healthy coping mechanisms for dealing with sadness, anger and fear. My parent had a very dysfunctional relationship because my father was addicted to marijuana and alcohol and verbally abusive. I can relate to Erin because I’m also shy and introverted and felt more “social” when I drank but decided to stop because the benefit of sobriety outweighed the week long hangovers. I can relate to Dusty because I was making extremely irresponsible decisions while under the influence and felt that drinking wasn’t worth it. I dated someone who never drank and that was a huge positive influence on my decision to become sober. Unfortunately that relationship ended. Like both of you, when I became sober, I decided to distance myself from friends who drank and partied. I often feel lonely and still struggle connecting with others who live a clean, healthy, sober life but I know when I do find a local community of like minded friends, our connection will be authentic. You are blessed to have each other to support and encourage one another to become healthier!

thank you guys! Erin made my heart expand when she admitted she's shy and an introvert (and at some point was a loner too). It made me feel more close to her. I'm not a classic introvert, but because i couldn't talk openly to many people about e.g. my spiritual interests, i became a little bit constricted the way i actually wanted to be, because i recognised most of the people are not open / interested for that topics. I always had my circle but i carried a sadness that in some groups of people i couldn't talk freely. But now i just know that i'll attract without exception ALL THE TIME the people who are my vibe and i won't even bother trying because this will only suck your energy! thanks guys for being so open, that is what people are looking for! And yes, we want to see your brothers!! Best From Berlin Xx

Thanks guys, I have gone vegan about 6months ago.after that the transition to non-drinker kind of came naturally because the better I felt, looked the less I wanted to drink and honestly i started noticing that after 4-5 beers maybe 1x a month I was sick the next day. My body was getting so healthy and healing that it was telling me the alcohol was not wanted. I may now have a GF beer 1 every month. Your very inspiring. Nice to see a man sr\tapping up to the plate. My husband is drinking a lot less these days. Upon this great awakening we are in I see many more folks going vegan and drinking less

I appreciate this video. I've been actively trying to quit drinking for at least 5 years. This past year I have tried to find the reason I do. I have hoped that my transition over the past 3-4 years towards a plant based diet would motivate me to quit but it hasn't been successful. It HAS highlighted the disconnect in my desire for a healthier body...but not the problem in my head and heart. Anyway, I appreciate your transparency and encouragement. I won't give up on myself. Namaste'.

Thank you for always being honest and sharing stories like this! I can relate, as my brother has struggled as yours and unfortunately he’s still in a bad place. Never has gone to jail thus far. And so sad bc he’s such a hard worker and was even a Journeyman Carpenter. Hasn’t worked for years and living with my Vietnam vet 73 year old dad who is just too weak to put on tough love. They’ve depressed one another. I believe it started with my parents always fighting then divorcing when we were late teens/almost 20s. Will pray for your friend. Please say a prayer for my brother Brian also as that’s the main thing I can do for him. He’s a believer but needs to fully focus and seek Jesus daily. Asking Him for help and repenting. 🙏 love you guys!! Maxi is always so cute in the vids!! ☺️

Thank you for this video... I come from a long family history of drug addiction and alcohol addiction which has cost me a relationship with my mother as a very young child and has put in a kink in my father, brother and I's relationship. I too have a brother who went down a destructive path of drug abuse that led him to 3 years in prison. He was high and addicted during my wife and I's wedding (he was my best man). And he was missing during the biggest moment of our lives, when my daughter was born. He isn't really in her life because recently he found a woman who also recovered from drugs/alcoholism and they are doing really well for themselves, serving in their church and feeding the homeless but he's so caught up in that and keeping sober that he doesn't really do much else. I'm comfortable with the fact that he isn't around as much as I'd like knowing he's sober and doing well but there's also those feelings I think we both harbor of guilt and bitterness that we can't quite get past. It's a constant work in progress but God will deliver as he promises in the end. Keep on the Faith. God Bless.

Thank you for this video. I recently decided to quit drinking (New Years Eve was last time) after many years of heavy drinking and blowing it off like it wasn't a problem. 2020 definitely was a tough year, and I would end up drinking alone, and just crying, even though my day hadn't been bad. What I appreciate about you both is your honesty. I've recently moved to a vegan diet and am slowly letting go of alcohol. Alcohol has been a security blank to ease me through the trauma I experienced growing up. Both my parents were alcoholics, and both had serious mental health issues. I basically grew up with two very sick people. I was never given the skills for many things and because of their addictions and the abuse I suffered, that impacted me in such a way that I've struggled through life, rather than thrived. I know sadly so many people have very similar stories, so I have no need to pity party about it anymore. At some point you have to grow out of that, or decide to evolve, so to speak. That's the point I'm at now, of finally wanting to grow out of it and knowing I can. My faith in God has keep me and His grace is what's kept me from worse forms of destruction and I believe He helps me every day. But as individuals we have to make changes, we have to launch out, and that's what I see you both have done, so Bravo. So I'm pressing on with a vegan diet, I feel better for eating plant based, and just want to say hi, and thank you for sharing your journey because it's really, really encouraged me.

Thank you to share this. I dont really like to drink, what it does to my body, my mindset. There is so much pressure of People when you dont drink...always say you are boring "come on just a beer". I receive same comments with my vegan lifestyle. This video help me to step up and assume my choices. 🙏❤

How many people needed this after march lockdown! I started drinking in the garden in summer lockdown, I started drinking at home in lockdown (something I NEVER done previous to this) I felt I was drinking too much and invited this bad habit that I done socially in to my home......lockdown again im not drinking I made a conscious choice to avoid that its a downward spiral......I am in another lockdown (uk) this time im making healthy changes adding more whole foods to my diet.....I am not vegan but im a wannabe vegan im just struggling with meals I am so used to the status quo but have added more whole foods to my diet.....thanks to u guys! I hope to transition to vegan in the future 🥰 thank you for this content I needed to hear this as a boost to stay on track xxx

My husband and I stopped drinking and went vegan six years ago. We both feel so much better and have been able to accomplish so much more. Making these changes has been easier and more fulfilling than we expected. Peace to everyone reading this - and best wishes for your health and well-being- whatever that means to you.

Wow! What an amazing segment you guys. I have never struggled with drinking but the message you have here was so much more than that. You talked about distancing yourself from friends who may be displaying certain toxic behaviors and that is something that we can all relate to. I also liked how you didn’t just talk about the addiction but referred to the actual root of the problem. So powerful. There is sooo much I can say but I just want to say thank you for your transparency and for the heart that you have for people. You two are really on a mission to help people live their best lives and it shows through every piece of content that you share. Dusty, we will be praying for your friend because God is greater than any mountain that we may be facing. Take care you two!! P.S. Hugs and kisses to Max!

I thank God I've been sober for 31 years I couldn't have done it without God. I'm in a 12 step program and it is AWESOME. It's a wonderful way of life. I drank from 10 years old to 33 years old and I honestly don't miss that sickening lifestyle.

I really enjoyed this video on addictions. I have an addiction to being a 100% best vegan and being labeled as a vegan, as being healthy, aswell as being fit, you name it. It pushed to me to the point where my body and mind was so distraught I wanted to die. Now that I found a support system with my now husband 😌 and my little sister and I took the time to own up for my stressors in life and addiction I am better with myself and slowly every day I get better with my addictive behaviors

I have the same thoughts you had Erin. I look at people who don’t drink and envy them wishing I too could be in social situations and not drink and still be out going. I only drink when hanging out with friends, but that’s still weekly or biweekly.

This is a great testimony! I still enjoy wine but 2020 there was twice that year that I did drink a glass. I agree with you. I think awareness is key and knowing that some things ultimately doesn't make you feel good. Blessings to those of you that are continuing your sober journey or just starting.

Great that your brother got a great help in prison. I think it’s hard for drug addicts to be in jail, but I also support therapy and drug accordion therapy while serving time. It’s such a hard road. But I love recovery stories especially prison stories.

Thank You guys so much for being so transparent about your journey.. I’ve been whole food plant based for about 2 1/2 months now and my biggest setback is alcohol.. been mentally preparing for this transition and finish out the year alcohol free.. it doesn’t serve a purpose in a plant based lifestyle.. I know about the fun weekends leading to 3-4 days recovery! Wishing you and your family all the best ❤️ #NewSubbie

I love what u guys said at the end about expecting the best and how life is up amd down and to also be prepared. And the addiction to positive and negative thoughts. I beleive we all create our own reality through our beliefs and thoughts. I also beleive we r connected to each other, the animals and mother earth. We are all ONE! Along my spiritual journey I became very concerned about animal welfare. The reason I became a Vegan was first because I just couldn't justify why an animal had to die for humans. It just felt so wrong to me. After learning about all the cruelty towards animals from the dairy and meat industry I knew that going Vegan was the right thing to do! I also watched a great documentary Forks over Knives amd found out about all the health benefits. I plan to stop buying any animal cosmetics and no more leather products. Can u recommend any Vegan brands such as cosmetics/ beauty products??? U look so pretty amd radiant in your videos!
