it feels weird hearing you say that in the next 4 years you’ll be 40. i remember coming home from school and watching the latest jkn video and your videos. that was when i was about 12 or 13 years old. now i’m 23 and you don’t realize how fast time is going until you hear one of your favorite content creators say that he’ll be turning 40 soon lmaoo

Same experience here I was or 13 when I discovered them through an old friend in middle school back in 2012. Now I'm 25 and still a die hard fan to this day.

Ey....yall making me emotional with this experience in the beginning. I feel like a lot of people take for granted what their parents do. People are so privileged they don't realize it. And. One of the best pod episodes

David .. your mother’s right , I experience the same thing. I have two kids, I blinked my eyes and now they are in their 30’s. Time moves faster when you are olde. I remember the first time I seen your videos, it was you playing your guitar and Gina singing, and look at you now. Good job David!

My biggest problem with Disney Star Wars is that you're not allowed to dislike it without being called a bigot.
@purish215
@purish215 2 ай бұрын
That's the thing that doesn't make any sense because if your a supporter of the LGBT stuff what Disney puts out is just insulting to them to they don't even try making these shows good or worse what they put out is the best they can do

Acolyte hate is pretty valid for once actually. Y'all should look into. Mainly nobody likes the show runner. She's said some wild things regarding established things in the Star Wars universe. There's a huge lack of respect and disregard to the source material. They're openly blaming fans for any criticism. You even have your lead actress dropping a diss track towards all the fan backlash. Wild stuff. It's like they're speed running how not to work for Disney/Star Wars again

Yeah, the grass is always greener on the side. I was an aircraft mechanic for a little while. Working outside in the extreme weather 12 hours a day trying to meet deadlines is mentally and physically exhausting. I had no capacity to do much after work. I now work from home doing a mentally stressful job in front of a computer screen. However, it’s definitely more manageable. I definitely don’t want to do anything in front of a computer after working.

I'm Chinese/Cambodian and almost every person in my family has worked at/owned a donut shop lol. Most of my family members emigrated from Cambodia and moved to Long Beach during the Khmer Rogue and got into the donut business because it just required manual labor and you didn't really have to speak English since you could order donuts just by pointing at what you wanted. About 40 years ago they left LB and bought another donut shop in a pretty Caucasian dominated area and my parents eventually took over the shop. I grew up in the shop and started working in the 6th grade. When I first started, I noticed how many customers would hit on me and my mom (in front of my DAD!!!!), make weird "ur oriental" comments, and how blatantly disrespectful customers were to my me/my family. My mom always told me things like "the customer is right" and that they are directly providing for us so we need to be grateful for them. I would always complain to my parents about how much her customers and store sucked, and my parents would be so frustrated that I spoke about the place and the customers in a disrespectful way. What you said about your mom reminded me of my parents so much. Now, about 14 years later, even though I still have a love/hate relationship with the donut shop, I can kinda see what my mom is saying. Overall, I am really grateful for all the donut shop provided for me, my family, and the community. I'm glad "the customer is always right" policy is not really a thing, I don't mind calling out customers for crossing a line, and can mostly focus on the great customers instead of the bad interactions from time to time. Even though I've been teaching at a high school M-F, I still come to help my parents out on Sundays. Sometimes, I really REALLY hate it, but I'm sure one day I'm going to miss taking free donuts to events and an occasional free jalapeno ham and cheese croissant. I have been following you since I started working at the donut shop, so it's been about 13 years. CRAZYY. I really loved listening to this episode and shout out to your parents for all they did for their communities. HUGE CONGRATS TO ED'S MOM FOR SELLING THE SHOP WOOHOO!!

Thank you so much to both of you. It's shed some light of what has transpired in my life. Left NY to start a small business in NJ. I partnered with my brother and his friend. We were a huge success but I was so miserable. Hated being there to its core even though i made a killing in terms of salary. It was just work work work. At one point I questioned why am I working this hard for what. Im realizing now that my brother just wanted me to be like him and chase after the money but we're not the same people. He wants and wants and wants. I just want to be appreciative of the things I have and want to be happy with less... I am also korean with korean immigrant parents. Its been a journey and im still trying to figure it out.. appreciate this gem david and ed.

I'm with both of ya'll on having less and being happier as well as having a blu ray collection. I used to have a lot of collectibles, I moved into a bigger space, but seeing how much I had made me feel like it was too much. I like having less now too. And for the blu ray collection with Ed, agreed on best way to watch. It's just so sad seeing Best Buy and other companies starting to stop selling physical discs. Less outlets to buy and preserve these movies for your personal collection. Once a streaming service loses that license to stream said movie, even if you bought it digital, it's gone for you too. So I'll always support physical discs for my movies.

You thought The Acolyte was "good"? Eh! Brother, EH! What's that?😄 The show is not the worst Star Wars show, but it is increasingly mediocre, honestly the story and characters don't make sense.

I've been a Star Wars fan since I was a kid. Acolyte is not hated because of the diversity, it is hated because of the bad writing. They tore a hole into the prequels, Mae has wishy washy feelings the entire series telling Osha she loves her then tells her she'll kill her the next? Jedis are supposed to be keepers of the peace and the writers made them out to be bad. They even brought in a prequel character knowing about Siths coming back 100 years earlier but telling the council they haven't been around for 1000 years? It's just bad writing over all. I'm all for diversity and women empowerment and it's great to see it, but please fix the script!

This was a great conversation David. I’m in my late 20’s and wonder if I should work strictly to pursue for my career (a corporate lawyer ) or take the time to enjoy myself until 30. Maybe it’s possible to balance of work and fun, I’m just trying to figure out how.

Many of my followers message me asking why I don't post the stuff I used to because they would get more views. Views bring me momentary satisfaction/happiness, but making those posts didn't make me happy and ate up time that I could be spending doing other things. My views and followers have dropped off a bunch and it does sting, but I'm spending more time doing things that help me feel more fulfilled.

One downside with a lot of immigrants parents having their own business after coming over is how impersonal they are for with their kids. They only got an outside in perspective of what’s going in our lives. My own mental struggles tied to my autistic brain and life stuff I’ve learned early own I can’t trust them to teach me how to learn to deal with it. My adult life so far they didn’t know I have had a partner for a while. My little sister who is 13yrs younger saw me more of a father figure than our actual dad cause of how little personal time he put into our lives. As much as I can appreciate their work ethic and their general life support, I wish they put more effort into our personal lives

Nah, that’s an L take on Ed’s part. People aren’t hating Star Wars because of diversity and ‘strong black women’. People hate it because the acting’s ass, the script is terrible and they keep retconning prior established lore with the force. Then painting the Jedi as the bad guys, despite the Jedi literally being the Force of Good vs the Dark Side who are the Force of Evil. For the spoken criticism of these constant changes and awful scripts, those critics are being called racist because they simply don’t like the show. It’s nothing racist about it. People are allowed to hate things if it’s genuinely bad. We can’t keep taking mediocre creations and calling it gold, when it’s absolute shit.
