This week we had our biggest failure ever at Premier Outdoor Living. We tried concrete countertops for the first time, and with any new trial there might be some error. It doesn't quite turn out as we expected. BUT we quickly recovered with a sick bench and bar area. Plus we got all of our cable rail in!

It's just outstanding today. Guys, I really love the vlog. I really thought Anthony was just gonna smash your hand into that concrete for a second. 😂 But being the professional he is, he did not. He just plugs away to get the job done.😊

Hi. Love the workmanship. Do you have to deal with wasps and wasp nests? If so...recommendation at the 14:45 mark...consider using black plastic strips in the slots to fill the gaps to keep them out.
@THEpremieroutdoor
@THEpremieroutdoor 10 ай бұрын
Thanks a lot Darryl! We don’t have a lot of issues with wasps but if we do, they typically like to make little nests under an overhang and not inside of stuff for whatever reason

The hardi backer should have been soaked before the concrete pour and then covered with a wet burlap. You guys didn’t get to where you are without taking risks.

Poly underneath would have kept moisture on it. Another trick for wet curing is to take a pin and poke a hole in a water jug, let it drizzle out over night and it'll continue to keep your forms wet

Can you dry pour a counter? Just wondering...I've done sidewalks with dry pour and ZERO cracks or issues and no stressful rushing before it sets up. I did a big carport pour with wet conventional concrete trucks (BIG $$$) and cracks everywhere. These 2 pours of mine were literally within 2 weeks of one another...Whenever possible, I will only dry pour from here on.

Ah the concrete curing issues! Been there myself! I got a brilliant tip from an old pro. He said get a load of hessian sheet or bags, soak them and then wrap the concrete with them. Stops it curing too fast and cracking, and man it works a treat because you can set the hose to mist and just lightly dampen them throughout the day. Then unwrap them at night when it's cooled to let them cure the rest of the way!

We definitely learned a lot from these mistakes lol. I think first of all we should have had a tent over it, and then absolutely should have kept it moist for the first 24 hours…I like the idea of soaking sheets to keep moisture in! We’ll definitely try it again and will keep that little trick in mind!

NO no... the biggest failure is using and pushing the Deckorator brand. Just finished a 600 sq ft deck with the Voyage line Sierra color mainly because I love your work. I have a phrase for this type of product "Good from far, far from good" Pros: This flooring looks great, seams stay true because of the mineral base, BUT the quality is shit, and grooves are not well-grooved - deep enough on many boards received (making the spacing really hard to be consistent with hidden fasteners) We built the frame 16" on center but still many areas have soft spots. When you cut the boards, you certainly want perpendicular cuts as close as possible because the mineral except for the surface looks bad. I built my fence out of Timber tech, coastline. Now I wish I used it for the flooring and the dark hickory color for my fence. Oh well, but like I said it looks great but I can see the flaws... Luckily a majority of my guests will not.

How it was ok for 3 hours and then not ok and kept tripping was you were using a breaker that was also using something in the house and was overloading. Someone either was home and started using that breaker for something or something automated in the house kicked on that also uses that breaker. All you had to do was plug it in somewhere else and it would have been fine. Also a good idea to check with the homeowner to make sure you know what else is on a breaker before you start plugging power tools into random outlets.
