One of my biggest downfalls is procrastination and not being properly prepared to grow. Too often new growers get seeds or get a clone, then they worry about setting up their grow area. My only advice to new growers concerning being prepared to grow is, have your space and environment set up BEFORE you obtain the genetics. The plant will grow. The environment and care is gonna determine the success of it's growth. Finally, just be patient grasshopper. 🌱🌱🌱✌🏻

Learning from others mistakes and the "Less is More" advice has been the best... I've already started some more too using a ton of the stuff I've been learning.

Newer grower myself, but a lesson I learned the hard way growing outdoors is be wary of your neighbors! And I’m not talking about theft. My Neigbhor behind me has automatic flood lights, and his wife loves to take care of the local stray cats…. Needless to say in week 6 of flower they got flashed multiple times and a good portion of them turned hermaphrodite. I never thought about it, out of yard out of mind I guess 😂

Love you videos. Great help. The 2 of you have great chemistry. The water ph is a big thing and ppl don’t realize you have to check your ph runoff. Also with pests diatomaceous earth hands down is the best organic insecticide for cannabis indoor and outdoor. Yes it gets clumpy when wet but it dries back into powder. I use it outdoors and never have a pest problem in my soil. DO NOT use it if you are already into flower. The fine powder will get into the buds. It gets rid of fungus gnats, thrips, ants, and every other pest you don’t want

Whats your tip for removing nitrogen? We have been finding autos dont need much, if you are not careful its pretty easy to over do and start seeing super dark green leaves and clawing. We have tried flushing, also read that putting mulch or hay can help draw out nitrogen from the soil?

This is my first grow that I'm doing right now, and I've nearly done everything there is to do wrong lol. I've overwatered, and probably over-fed as well, not have the right lighting, and not enough light, the temperature was not high enough along with the humidity. And even if I get nothing at the end of these plants, I've learned a lot for my next grow. One thing I've learned that might have given my plants a chance though is with I not having the right lighting and the plants not getting enough light the seedlings have stretched long and weak. I saw on another channel with tomato plants, if you dig them up gently, then make a long shallow hole for the plant to lay down on its side, then cover the roots and the stem and then bend the top gently upwards so the leaves are above the soil and pointed to the light. As long as the light is at the right height and brightness, the plants will start growing normally. It's day two of me since doing that and the plants have reacted great to that, and they are now producing new leaves. Of course, getting the temp and humidity along with the lighting right is a lot to do with it as well.

Maybe I can help a little here..... I did my first grow in 1970 so I am not sure if I am considered a beginner or not. I have had MANY and I mean MANY people ask me how I do it. How much does it cost to get started. How hard is it to do and such. It gets to be a chore to explain it over again and again. I noticed that people had made videos on youtube. I am thinking my troubles are over. I don't have to educate people one at a time anymore. I can just send them to youtube. WOW was that a huge mistake. I then had people yelling at me "I thought it was cheap and easy .... You have to buy pots a grow medium which is $100's of dollars alone. Then you need a tent, ph meters and up & down. $100's on food, exhaust fans, scrubbers to kill the smell". We have not even talked seeds, lights and all the other so called BS things you NEED! I am asking them what they are talking about. I ask what they mean and they show me the videos. I watched a few and it blew my mind. There a lot of posers who are preying on new growers. It is just a bunch of fakes who are making money by saying buy this type of light or this type of soil. They have sponsors so of course they are they are telling people to buy it. I will try and explain just how easy & cheap it truly is. First I need to throw a disclaimer out there to protect these 2 people so lets do that..... ***DISCLAIMER*** I am in NO WAY saying these 2 are fake or guilty of any accusations I have made. I just found their channel so there is no way to make that call at this time. I agree with a lot of what they say in this video so will just expand a little on it. But I have noticed that most channels are more about "look how awesome me and my plants are" more bragging channels then gowing. So let us break down the obvious.... 1. Let us say I have a 1968 GTO that is cherry. I took a second mortgage on my house. The engine is blue printed, all numbers match, the ONLY time it is on the road is if it is on a trailer! You have a 1968 GTO. You are the 5th owner. It has high miles and is showing it's age........ HELLOOOOOOOOO Of course yours is not going to look like mine. Look at all the time and money I put into it!!! You get the point. If you want a weed fetish, that consumes your every thought/move. Then I am not for you. If you NEVER want to pay a penny for killer bud again. Do it for dirt cheap then read on. 2. There are a lot of people running scams on here. An auto goes into flower automatically, hence the name. A photoperiod goes into flower, when YOU TELL IT TO!!!! That means you determine how long until you have a finished product. Anyone can take a fem photo seed, let it vege until it gets to the size of a ready to harvest auto. Then kick it over to flower. It will do it's flower "stretch". What you will end up with is a big azz looking auto (even tho it is not). There you throw some pictures or videos up, saying this is week 2, week 4 (which is not true either). Then you show the final product and say LOOK HOW AWESOME MY AUTO IS COMPARED TO YOURS! Well that is great but yours is not an auto you freakin poser! So the first step is to take a simple test to see if you have what it takes to be an expert grower. Take this simple test. There is only one question and it should not take more then a minute to complete. *TEST* Place a finger on your wrist or the side of your neck. We are looking for a pulse. Do you have a pulse? It you answered yes congratulations you have what it takes to be an EXPERT grower! If you answered no then you are dead. Even if you are dead there is still a backup test you can take.... *TEST 2* Spell IQ... were you able to spell it?Awesome now we can move on.... lol the point I am trying to make is if you are at least as smart as a chicken. I don't mean a walking, living chicken. I am talking a frozen chicken with no head on it!!!! Then you can do it, trust me on this. So let's move on to the Q&A portion. Q: If I follow your technique, can I get better results then I see in other grow videos? A: I don't know about better.... but I PROMISE YOU just as good on your very first try! Q: Why type if Ph meter do you use? A: What the hell is a Ph meter? I have been growing for over 50 years. Never used one. Never even see one. Unless you have some chit well water or live in some hell hole of a village your Ph is fine. I have lived in may different towns and NEVER had an issue. Q: If you have never used a Ph meter. How do you know you don't have a Ph problem? Maybe your results would be better if you did. A: The same way a women can still be pregnant even tho she never took an at home test. When you get seeds they will tell you what size they will grow to, about what to expect in yield and such. They will exaggerate these numbers to sell more seeds. If you are getting close to those numbers then you are good. Ph will never alter the plants genetics. Q: They all seem to say use this soil mix or that soil mix. How can you say you don't need to? If they are paying $100's how can I possibly get the same results for $15? A: Again outcome..... I will never tell you what you must or must not do. Only what you can do. Let's say there are 4 gorilla glue seeds. You give them 2 and me 2. They come up with their secret recipes, tips and yield 1000 grams. I don't and end up with about the same amount (could be a little more or a little less). The whole idea is to get a final product for less then $1 a gram. NOT for $20 a gram. You can go to a dispensary and get those prices. Q: Okay so what is the secret? A: There is no secret and that it the point. IT IS A WEED!!!!!! Just like any other weed it is a bich to kill it!!!! *Get some fabric pots. It is almost impossible to over water with a fabric pot. What they said does ring true tho. People get over involved in their plants the first time around. LEAVE IT BE!!! Look you need to give it some water every couple of days. That is IT!!!! Do nothing else. This is the only way we are ever going to debunk this BS. I am telling you we are not feeding chit. We are not training chit. We ain't even remembering to water. You can forget to water it for over a week. I am talking till the cell structure collapses, the plant is a bent over, a shriveled up, hot mess and it still will wow yourself and others. You can be so abusive to weed, if there was a weed jail for abuse.... you would get LIFE!!!! Yet you will STILL get killer results with mind blowing THC levels. *Get a 50 quart bag of Miracle Grow for $15.... Yes I know they all say NEVER use it. Remember this is your first grow. We are trying to do EVERYTHING for under $200. They act like a coconut is some new invention. It and its husk has been around for a real long time. Think of all those late night infomercials. Take this seaweed pill and it will fix what troubles you. Take this pill with made from brown rice and it will cure anything. Where are those commercials now. If the products were so good what happened? In over 50 years the only problem I have had with pest is fungus gnats in the new bags of ANY grow mix I got. Hello miracle grow has an ingredient list on it. It has coco and peat and everything else pretty much. When you buy it open it outside and hit it with boiling water. This will kill of any gnats and deplete any synthetic fertilizer it has (the fertilizer is what people fear). Nobody is saying you can never switch. Just do it your 1st time to see that a worm with brain damage can do this, it is so easy. *Get good seeds. This is going to make or break you. For your first time get Autoflowers. *Plant seeds *Put pots under grow light *Do not feed, train, or do anything to the plant other then give it some water now and then! Go ahead and spit on plant, kick fabric pot with great force. Forget to water it and let it wilt to an inch from death. Again this is your first grow and I want you to see how easy it is to brag on your outcome after your first grow! It is a weed not an already broken glass you are trying to save. *Let plant do its thing. Auto means LEAVE IT BE!!! *Pick plant and let dry * Smoke buds and be like Steve by saying WOW "DID I DO THAT" Yes you are going to get better yields with LST and things. Worry about that next time. We are just trying to get killer bud, with great bag appeal, awesome taste & smell, so sticky you cant wash the chit off your hands. Along with the satisfaction of watching some of these videos and thinking they are so full of chit it is surprising they even need fertilizer!!! In the end lets pretend I lied about everything. I made you go out and get fabric pots, a grow light, some soil & seeds. Well you need the pots, seeds and lights doing it their way as well. You are out NOTHING!!!! Go ahead and keep spending money like there is no tomorrow. What did you lose? Now lets say I am not lying. What did you gain? The truth that it is possible to get the same results at 1/10th the price and doing all but killing the plant. The only great care you need to take is driving or operating machinery after you smoke it!!!

Very true, less is more with autos. With watering and feeding.....at the beginning is all about root development for me. I used Great White, dust seed hole lightly, use 1/2 tbsp once a week, dry mix on top of soil. Using silica on water days only from beginning until flush starts. I tried to simplify with common practices that keeps my girls happy. I have not had any problems with my grows ever since my 1st NOOB micro managed grow. Patience and like CLTV says genetics. I try to keep all my auto strains similar in heights. This allows me to adjust lights per group. I also review growth times because I don't want 9 to 10 week autos mixed with 14 to 15 week autos. So yes genetics 👍💚

I'm growing in 15 gallon bags in my 5x5 with living soil. They can take a fair amount of water without being over watered. Plenty of room for drainage/absorption. I have been using 3 1/2 gallons of water divided between the 4 bags each week and so far it hasn't been an issue. In other words less that 1 gallon of water a week per plant in those containers.

Ah haaah!!! I knew I wasn't crazy...it's my first indoor, first no till living soil grow. Im using a 20 gallon fabric pot. I've been watering 1 gallon every 4 days and spent this entire cycle wondering "is this enough?" Simply pushing 1 1/2 gallons through my sprayer would cause a tiny bit of runoff. Visions of hydrophobic peat moss ensued, even though I made sure it was sufficiently saturated when I built the soil. Seemed like so little in such a big soil mass and many times I considered the possibilty that the soil was a desert 4 inches down from the surface. Thank you...I'm not crazy. Just a tad ocd over watering something I'm only now beginning to understand. 1 month out from harvest.

The thing with autos is you only get twelve weeks to flower so if you give too much and cause nutrient burn then yeah you can recover if it’s not too bad but that recovery time is taken from the time slot which affect yield.

As a grower from the late 80’s. It’s a wild plant we try to domesticate. Collect and give it rain water. My soil is from the woods so it’s a living soil. It’s a plant we overthink things. my first grow was coco over soil so there is no way to overwater in coco due to the nature of how it works. I run 90-100% saturation and im at 45-50 days right now and she is a monster right now. PH: Im super lucky since the nutes I use when i mix ends up being 6.2-6.5 without needing to use any up or down at all. I still PH to double check but I havent had to use even a drop of pH down or up lol. Nutes: Never grown in soil at all, as mentioned further up i run coco so you end up just feeding without flushing since new feed flushes the salts and shit out the bottom. Feed till run off is amazing but requires a lot more management over soil since you need to water 1-2 times a day over once every 1-2 days in soil.

I have a auto flower she is a critical purple her cross jeans are big bud and critical mass… She’s a beautiful green the leaves are but her buds are a multi color of yellow white and purple what is the yellow about?Because I have never seen yellow buds except for one time from Acapulco gold… and that was long time ago when I was around 18 years old when I had good eyesight to top it off I am completely 100% blind and I grow my own medicine and this was the first time someone explained to me that my buds are yellow instead of a nice lime green or some other color lol

I'm so new that whenever I think I boned up on all the right info, something comes up. Biggest problem for me is too much love (speaking of). I go into panic mode every time anything happens and dump more water and nutes lol. Also worrying about pests tends to have me fiddling around too much.

Also this fad of throwing together random compost teas I think causes harm at times. I'm gonna stick to a proven feed formula next time and see what difference it makes. Leave the compost tea job to Recharge or something.
@Highigan
@Highigan 3 жыл бұрын
We have been experimenting with compost teas also, I can see how it could easily get carried away adding to much stuff, we have seen good results so far, but less is more so we are going pretty light on what we add, molasses, hand full of worm castings, some fish sh!t, some table spoons of flower girl power from natures living soil.
@zentatonic

@@Highigan that sounds like a good mix - I see people throwing handfuls of every random mineral and poop they can find lol. And I don't know if that's hurting anything for me, it just stands to reason that if I spike a nute that my plant has plenty of, it could lock out something else. Recently did a tea with very little in it, and it came to 700 ppms...I have decent yields...not exactly Bill Ward (or heaven) auto yields lol so I wanna just get to harvest with zero alarms.

I am about to start my First Grow Next Month, and I am going to be using General Hydroponics' Flora Series, But I have a question I hope someone can answer. I am going to be using an "IV Style" Drip Irrigation unit for continous watering and feeding, It has a dial adjustment that can go from 5ml per hour all the way up to 300ml per hour. I am curious if anyone has a suggestion of what ML per hour to sit it at to keep the soil moist without under or over watering? I am getting 4 of these bags that hold 6500ML of water each, and I plan to set up 1 with FloraGro, 1 with FloraMicro and 2 with plain water durning veg, then switch to 1 with FloraBloom, 1 with FloraMicro and two with plain water so that I am getting a Continous feed and water through out the grow. Just need to figure out where to dial them in at.

I was playing with calibrating my pH pen I got for 5 bucks and I found after the pH adjustment with the packets the distilled water wouldn't read 7.0 and I had a cheap pH pen, What do you guys think I used the distilled water and adjusted it to 7.0 it's was more accurate what 🤔?? Do you have the same problem checking the distilled water pH which is 7.0 is the expensive ones off to? After I adjusted it to distilled waters pH it was accurate to the Lemon juices pH 2.0. Also crazy but my well waters pH is around 10.0 and my plants have been surviving lol odd but true.

Really depends on type of pot, soil, how's much perlite in, strain, humidity and temp in tent, etc. My current grow is a auto that is 44 days old in 5 gallon fabric pots using 80% happy frog and 20% perlite. Temp is 78-80f and humidity between 45 and 50%. At the current stage of flower I am watering pH 6.3 almost two liters every 2-3 days feeding once a week. So its feed, water, water, feed. Less is more. Plants will tell you when they want more water or nutes.

For tents, I wouldn't recommend. They are great predator for your garden. But we used them in the tent- it was a nightmare. One of my biggest goofs early on after I overwatered a bunch of plants and killed a couple plants I learned pretty quick if you are pushing the limit on lighting, on nutrients and everything’s maxed out you need to flush your coco or soil at least once a week or every other week, especially if you are leaving run off in your saucers the nutrient salt build up will get super built up and I’ve killed my best plants from this. And if your feeding more often I’m coco with small amounts and no run off, still flush every now and then but also be super careful with letting your coco dry out too much. The salt build up when dried back more than usual will cause a massive ec spike then you’ll go to water and hit em with some food an boom mega spike plants are fucked

Watering..... Generally speaking, when the surface is dry a knuckle deep, water. The amount of water depends on age of plant and size of container. Young plants don't need as much water and limited watering can help roots grow to search for water. Water the outer edge of the plant's drip line. As the roots fill the container, they will drink more and more. But still, only water when the soil is drying on top a couple inches deep. Every other day, consistent amount of water. Ph whatever you are introducing to the container.
