It's not that the father "decides" the sex of the baby per se, but the male-produced gamete is the only possible source of a Y chromosome. So there are genes that determine proportion of sperm produced carrying either X or Y chromosomes, and if you are predisposed to producing a lot of sperm carrying the Y chromosome -> a lot of XY babies. So of course nobody has any actual control over it, but in that sense yeah, the male contribution can significantly impact how many babies of either sex are born.

I’m from California, and I know about the Mason-Dixon line. Rachel didn’t really get a proper education and she (like Colleen) are very comfortable with how little they know about real life outside of their bubble. Very naive thinking.

@@verojlanda It’s really sad listening to her and Colleen because their parents hurt them so much by their homeschooling. I was awful at history but I do know what the mason-dixon line is. :) Also, the fact that dryers can make noises at me annoys me. If I'm in the middle of something, I don't want to stop and take the laundry out just to make the dryer stop dinging. Rather than stop what I'm doing, I'll usually be like "OH HUSH!" and then continue with what I was doing. Rachel would REALLY hate my approach. I don't go deal with it, and I add extra noise haha. Also, Rachel's friendship with Andrew is adorable! Having cousins that are also your friends is the best.
@mamanay57663 жыл бұрын
I have a similar pet peeve about the dryer door. I hate when people ignore the ding that issue their clothes are done and they let it keep dinging even though you have told them numerous times. I literally will scream for them to get their clothes out

A baby born as a female has XX chromosomes while a baby boy has XY. Both mom and dad give one of those chromosomes. Moms only have XX, so they will always give an X. Dads are XY, so they can give an X (forming a girl, with XX) or they can give a Y (which forms a boy, XY). No one "decides" the sex of the baby's gender but that's what people mean when they say the dad decides! Not a myth :)
@jessyjess87423 жыл бұрын
Basically the father decides the sex with his extra chromosome that the mother can’t produce… so it’s determined by the father. Same difference

I'm late to the party because of a break from the good ole YT but I can help explain one thing! The periodic table is a "simple" way to visualize trends in certain attributes of elements. As you go across a row or down a column there will be more or less [attribute]. For example the radius of the atoms goes up as you move left across rows or down each column. They also are vaguely grouped with metals being a majority of the table.

Lmao thr dryer dinging and the timer are all misophonia related, it's the same as the chewing thing. Also it's phonia, not phobia, it's not so much a 'fear' as it is a form of over stimulation etc, it's more similar to a neurological thing

LOVE this episode!! Definitely one of my faves. I've always been a big fan of Andrew. He seems like such an amazing guy/person, and of course his laugh is iconic 😂🥺 I really found the part where Rachel mentioned coming out to Gwen and said that "she knew since she was a toddler", to be really interesting! She's never mentioned that before and it made my heart melt a bit. I know people saying "I knew" can be insulting (and I agree, depending on the person) but I feel like when it's someone very close like your mother, that it can be comforting and make things easier. I love how supportive their entire family is, even having grown up religious. I also like the conversation about celeb crushes/fan girling. They both make very valid points about celebs being more visually accessible, and also dolled up/seeing the most attractive versions of them on TV screens, BUT that won't stop my closeted gay woman self from crushing on many, many woman celebs 🤣❤ I also loved the tour manager tea and stories!! The pet peeve convo was fun too! Mine are being ignored (I don't care about texts being ignored so much anymore but in person if I say something or am telling a story and the person doesn't reply or completely ignored me/isn't saying anything or reacting), slow drivers, people who don't use their turn signal, people who don't know how a roundabout works, loud chewers!, rude people and people with no manners, when technology doesn't work how it's supposed to, grammar/spelling nazis, I think those are the main ones I can think of right now 😂 thank you for another great episode and I really hope you'll have Andrew back soon!! ❤
