Duluth has long been a favorite place for my wife and I to visit and we decided to cross a few things off the bucket list with a winter trip to Duluth and film a travel film this year. I have always wanted to see the big waves on Lake Superior and my wife has wanted to see the Bentleyville Christmas Light display. Along with those items we visited Gooseberry Falls, the Glensheen Mansion, as well as some fun on Canal Park.

This is Grandma Ellen. I have been doing a geography road trip with my great granddaughters virtually this year for Home School Geography. When we got through North and South Dakota, we almost decided to go south. Really, what would there be to see in Minnesota? I was so wrong! We visited Ulm, the German town (You Tube), Lindstrom, the town connected by waterways to 5 lakes in the Chisago area (You Tube) and then started north to Duluth on Lake Superior! Your video (also on You Tube) was just what I was looking for to showcase Duluth before our trip up the North Shore. I loved your guys' commentary. Thanks for a great video!

As a Duluthian that knows the ins/outs of my hometown, you guys did great! Not sure if you've visited since this video, but you'll want to check out the Depot and the Craft District in Lincoln Park. The craft district is forging ahead with numerous small businesses and is the fastest growing area in Duluth.

After living almost my entire life in the state of Florida, my wife (Ohio native) and I retired to Northwest Ohio. 2020 was my first winter living up north, and I love it. South Florida and the Keys are beautiful, but the snow and the woods and the Lakes are another world--every bit as beautiful. We find beauty where we want to, sometimes we simply stumble upon it and catch a glimpse of nature at its best if we take the time to take it in.

We've lived in MN for about 3 years now, and we've been to Duluth at least once each year. It's such a beautiful area! There's so much to do up there too. We see different things and go different places every time, and we still haven't seen it all. We've been to Superior too. They have a Veterans Memorial and Museum over there that we visited. We haven't gone up there in the winter though. We'll have to try that sometime.

This was such a lovely adventure, thank you for sharing!! Im from Austin, TX and started dating a Northern MN girl, in 2018 was the first time i even saw snow in my life, ironically we went to bentleyville, up to gooseberry and all that, pretty much the exact same week you filmed this. So even though we don't know each other this was like a little time capsule for both of us. So thank you for this!! you guys are awesome!!

What a great fun video! I am planning a trip with a friend from Texas in mid Feb. Do you think it will be too cold and frozen to enjoy? We have never been to Duluth and can only come at this time of year. Do you have any suggestions for a day trip?
@RyanKnorr
@RyanKnorr 5 жыл бұрын
Too cold and frozen is a relative term to what you're used to...haha - I can assure you it will be very cold but if you bundle up in many layers, you'll be fine. I would suggest checking out canal park for sure. The shipping usually isn't going on during February with too much ice on the lake, but drive up the North Shore Road and there's a bunch of stuff to see on that. Gooseberry Falls which I showed in the video is cool and Split Rock Lighthouse is a favorite for many.

The occasional trip to Duluth must be nice. I left just after this past Thanksgiving after growing up there and spending 36 years there. Living in Phoenix now, I missed the sun, Duluth has a nasty habit of completely blocking it out. Duluth is great in small doses...very small doses.
