What I love about Shuffle Up and play, is that it really captures that “4 friends just playing commander” energy. Which is the reason most of us play commander anyway
@TolarianCommunityCollege6 ай бұрын
It's easy to capture that because 99% of the time, that's what it is. So many of us have known each other for YEARS at this point, so while sometimes we have a new person we are still getting to know, the majority of these are really just "OMG, I get to play Commander with my friends!"

The social negotiation at the table of who to attack is kind of a weird element of the Commander format. I feel like a singleton 2 headed giant would have most of the same table fun but without that weird unfairness built in. Or there was another old format for any number of players where everyone simply attacks clockwise.

I saw the Raff video and decided to build my own version of it with the same basic concept, but less of a budget restriction. Control spellslinger+tokens. And I love that deck! Raff flies so under the radar because when you read him, he doesn’t look like he’d draw you very many cards, but he gets the card draw ball rolling, and then once you throw in some cheap draw spells, it snowballs out of control (or _into_ control, more accurately) pretty quickly.

@@TolarianCommunityCollege I have compiled the data. In the 31 episodes of Shuffle Up and Play where you have played a 4-Person Variant of Commander you have 3W-27L-1D. Of those losses, you have come in 2nd 7 times, 3rd 10 times, and 4th 10 times. Assuming we leave out the draw between Marcus, Sam of Rhystic Studies, and Connor of Spice8Rack, we can condense the percent chance of you either being the first to be eliminated, caught in a table wipe, or dogpiled before it becomes a 1v1 at around 74.07% of the larger 87% likelihood of losing. Of course looking at it as raw numbers the likelihood of getting 2 of 3 options is 67%, and of course in terms of raw numbers a person would expect to win a strictly fair 4-person game around 25% of the time, which indicates based on your records some factor or factors are being weighed against you

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this, but Sage’s Reverie is better than Olivia thinks. You draw a card for each Aura you control that is attached to a creature. Each. Not just the creature the Reverie is enchanting. (43:35) She should have drawn at least one extra card. Not sure if she had other auras on other people’s critters. When playing Eriette myself I regularly draw upwards 4-7 cards. It’s a nutso aura.
