I’m so sorry for your loss. I want to just say thank you so much for helping me with my plants a couple of months ago. I just bought two beautiful succulents that I am no longer afraid of killing. All of the succulents I had I killed on accident and every time I saw a succulent I saw my dead plants in my head but after watching your videos I worked up the courage to buy some more. Same here Lynn. We lost my wife's mum a few months back. I know she was my mother-in-law but I miss her lots so I can imagine what you are feeling. On a lighter note I noticed looking at your older videos that you have one hell of a peanut cactus. Have you noticed just how many different hybrid ones are around now? Great little plants for anyone just starting out with cacti, easy to grow and flower. All the best to you and Hans for a fantastic growing season next year. Sorry to hear about your mother. My thoughts and prayers are with you:).I live in the San Francisco Bay Area in a 9b zone. I find I don't need to protect my E. grusonii aka Golden Barrel. From what I've read they are ok down to a zone 9a which is goes as low as -6.7 C. I'm sure you could leave in the poly tunnel and would be totally fine if kept dry:). I've been watching you now for about 3 years and I'm a crazy cactus lover too. It's truly amazing how you can grow them in such a wet environment. I have it a little easier considering where I live has a Mediterranean climate, and only rains 6 months out of the year. Tomorrow and Thursday I will be doing the succulent shuffle moving and protecting my plants. Friday through Sunday we will be getting our first rains since the end of April. Thanks for all the videos I love watching them:).

My deepest condolences, and yes I think all parents would tell us get on with it. Everything looks fabulous! Give yourselves a few months and come spring all the stress will shed away and you'll both be cozy as clams.😀

First Lyn, I am so sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. It is one of the hardest events in one's life to lose our mother. My thoughts are with you on that. As far as Echinocactus grusonii goes. They grow here in Phoenix out in the ground and it has even gone down to freezing and they are fine. As long as you are above freezing, it should be fine. Maybe move it some away from the side of the polytunnel where it might be colder and it should be come through great.

Aww Lyn I am so sorry for you, my condolences. I know these things belong to life just like eating breathing and being born but are sometimes very hard to deal with. Yesterday my cat died ( this one from the profile pic ) after a short battle with cancer an last week my Dad has been diagnosed with cancer of the pancreas and it doesn t look good for him. So for me and my family life isn t too good right know. But you are right , just keep going on is important. By the way: The plants look very good, keep up the good work! I hope you both get the wel deserved rest you need and that everything goes as planned! Have a good week guys!

Please please could you or Hans do a care video on two plants I have...the pachypodium and also Hans’ Stephanotis floribunda. the latter does brilliantly for me outside all summer and early autumn but when I bring it in, the young emerging leaves turn yellow and drop off 😖

Lyn, Thank you for the wonderful video and all the details. First - according to Arid Lands Greenhouses website, they keep their Echin. Grusonii outside during the winter and have experienced only mild frost damage. Several years ago I purchased two and tested this out. The Grusonii that was kept in my north room with the window open 5'c-15'c went on to produce beautifully savage looking spines compared to the one in the warmer dormancy. No sign of damage, but I do not get below freezing here either. I have always received a prompt response from any email questions from Arid Lands. I highly recommend them if you have any questions. Second, so sorry about your mom. Missing them is the hardest. Curious did you get your love of cacti from her? I received my first cactus 37 years ago, age 10 (still alive) and it is a mystery as to where I received the cactus crush gene. Take care.

thank you for answering my questions about my cacti! now will you be putting a vent fan in your greenhouse? in the winter or if at all? do you need to worry about air circulation where you live? here in Louisiana i have one i think its 12 inch but it makes a difference lol

Sorry to hear about your loss lynn. Sending lots of hugs plant power! from Canada! If u dont min me asking, How often do u water your living stones ( Lithops ) in winter or if any? I get mixed answers to water lightly or no water from November - April. U both have a amazing collection and keep up the hard work! :)

Hi Matthew :-D thanks so much for watching the plant on the left of the pink flowering Schlumbergera is a Aporocactus mallisonnii :-D it is not doing too well at the moment though so may be taking cuttings of it to re propagate it , I have had this plant for over 20 years too and I bet your plant is a beauty :-) sending lots of love and plant power from Ireland for a wonderful weekend ahead XXXX
