As a person in the health industry with a health degree- you gained weight so easily and quickly because you lost the weight unsustainably and quickly. If done healthy, you should be able to eat whatever you want on a trip just in moderation

What about water retention from traveling and drinking? This happened to me when I went on vacation for a week but i lost the weight so fast when I got back cus I think it wasn’t actual fat that I gained.

As a dietitian this is true however I suspect at least a quarter of that weight is bloating/water retention/constipation. It’s unlikely all 12 pounds are fat from a 2 week vacation. But I agree with the sentiment that the restrict to binge cycle is extremely unsustainable and leads to gaining back all the weight and more and a troubled relationship with food.

*So a big thing with most of Western Europe is that they don’t LOVE Americans.* From my experiences in France, Germany and Amsterdam, I found Theyre super hostile and sometimes rude to Americans. I saw many Americans wearing Canadian gear/adding a Canadian patch to their clothing to keep the peace

I was 16 years old when I started working, I'm Portuguese, the first job you get here as a teen is usually relating to tourism. And I can say for sure that some American people here find some kind of freedom, they drink so much that they become rude. Unfortunately because of some people, we locals judge the whole country. But have to same, the best tips are from Americans and they love our food and culture that we became very happy and appreciated.

I'm in culinary school and I can definitely say that french food was the one thing I struggled to do tastings for; an entire semester of french cuisine and I can say the only thing I absolutely love besides all the pastries and desserts is steak au poivre (pepper steak); a lot of people has a misconception of french food and I was definitely one of them lol
