dam dude does everything have to come with a long winded story man , i like the car both the c30 and v70 but more car content and less massive unnecessary stories please , just ends up putting me to sleep , ps hope you dont take this as hate or anything i do like what you guys are doing with volvos at the moment so hopefully it will come across as constructive criticism , so anyway let get that volvo sorted and see what she is really all about , exhausts, air filters, suspensions , hybrid turbo , larger intercooler , lets do this

To follow up on Chad’s point here, it’s not just about working on the cars. We’re also trying to craft a good story line for you guys to follow and become emotionally involved with. Otherwise it’s just a video forum thread, and that’s boring too. So like he said stick with us! Videos like this are cool to look back on when the project is done so not only us, but you guys can look back and say “holy shit it came from THERE to HERE!? Wow” 🙂 -Gregson

Also, on the topic of Volvo stuff. I mentioned VIDA/DiCE in a reply to a comment below. Owning these cars *please* get a DiCE and go through the pains of installing VIDA. It will pay for itself. It is, in my honest opinion, a requirement of owning these cars. I didn't believe it until I got my hands on one. And I don't know how I could own a Volvo without it now. It's well worth the investment.

On the vibration in the passenger side front, chances are it's the CV Axle. SR's and VR's are notorious for the right front axles going out and being *impossible* to find (ask me how I know). I believe the C30 (incl. T5) uses the weaker Tripod joint CV's, where SR's and VR's use a stronger Rzeppa style joint (Hence the 'impossible to find'ness). And they still break. With 227hp through the known weaker tripod joint axle, it's worth a look. If it happens to be the axle, you may have a hard time finding one. The M66 axle will be different from the AW55/Powershift axles.
@mammypokopants420
@mammypokopants420 6 жыл бұрын
I second that. But you can get a CV axle with OEM core from Napa Autoparts. I own a 2007 Volvo S40 and replaced it myself. Half a day job at most if you got seized bolts or something. Good luck!

@@mammypokopants420 I was saying for R models they're impossible to find. Especially '06-'07 auto axles. The M66 wasn't common on the C30, and with that, may be hard to find.

Another cheaper option is the ford efocus mount. Helped a ton on my p1 and is a cheap direct fit. Also recommend starting with rear sway bar (Mazdaspeed 3 rear sway bars should fit these cars and are cheaper)

Change your engine mount top passenger side. Do this first because I did what you're about to do and didn't fix on my 05 S40 T5. Plus it helps to change all your engine mounts in a car that's a decade old. $30 mount compared to a $200 CV axle or hub bearing is a safe economical solution.

The M66 manual shift on my S60R has no vagueness. A bit stiff at start up when temperatures are below freezing but otherwise works very well. As far as shifting from higher to lower gears the lever will find its own way just fine. No need to try to second guess it or force it.

The Civic Type R according to Honda themselves say it runs 23.2 psi boost. That is about double the C30s boost pressure. I think it will be easy to turn the C30 into a Honda R killer. A tune, exhaust manifold, a 350hp capable turbocharger and exhaust should do it. Now you could beat the CTR in torque with the stock turbo probably and come close to it in hp.

We got a C30 D5 automatic, tuned.... Now suddendly we got hard vibration when accelerating... sounds like passengerside, therefor i guess it is the driveshaft as many here mentions... Are there any reinforced driveshafts for this car/transmission? Maybe Ford Fiesta ST ?

The european Ford Focus ST (c30t5 clone) also has problems with the driveshafts. They are made of cheese. After some use, they vibrate, click and knock randomly, getting you totally mad in the end. Because they appear to be ok at first look. Getting more power from the engine can make it worse. In Europe there are one or two manufacturers that make reinforced driveshafts for the ST. They are stronger, but don´t eliminate the vibration problem totally. The shafts are difficult to balance. Keep working with the Volvo project. All the best.

powerflex the gearbox mounts - also the VT gearbox mount is good - had both on mine and the shift was first class. Also volvo had a recall on gearbox oil, causing stiffness in cool coconditions... .soo maybe change the gearbox oil. I also think and have alway thought that the Dinky toy keys look so odd. The Dinky toys are kind of weird as they are a half step between the n (p2) and II (p3) generation. I will never forget the first time dad brought home one of those Dinky toys, i think it was a face one V50 actually. I remeber thinking that the key looked like a toy, the gauges is short of crammed together in that smaller cluster and that the proposions where a bit off (it looked weird next to our blue V70n (p2).

@THEGHOSTSLAVE
@THEGHOSTSLAVE 6 жыл бұрын
I understand your point, and I wish it was that simple for these cars. But they're locked down to the extent where that just isn't possible. You can barely read basic P0 codes on a Volvo with a generic scanner, let alone access the ECU entirely or CEM at all. Those parameters are set by the dealer with software that has to be: 1: Paid for and downloaded from PIE (Volvo's software servers) with proof of ownership. 2: Flashed to the ECU, and CEM using a DiCE unit with VIDA (Volvo's proprietary diagnostics hardware and software). You can buy a knockoff DiCE unit with unofficial VIDA from eBay for about $100, the problem is that it *is not* an official license and it *does not* have access to PIE. You can, however, use a knockoff DiCE unit with a legitimate subscription to VIDA (About $70 for a 3 day subscription) and pay another, I believe, $25 on top of that for the software to reprogram a key. So at a minimum, with buying a DiCE you're looking at around $200. May be less if you borrow a DiCE, buy a used DiCE, etc. It could be more depending in the quality of DiCE unit you buy (They range anywhere from ~$70 - $200). At that point you may as well pay the ~$250 dealer fee to reprogram the key. I've never seen an auto parts store carry, let alone know what VIDA/DiCE is. It is the *only* , I repeat, *the only* way to reprogram a key on a modern Volvo. There are anywhere from 13 to 19 computers aboard that car, the fob's code has to be on the two I mentioned above if not more. You can't even try to communicate with anything other than the ECU with a basic scanner in these cars. And even reading the ECU is a crapshoot. That's just how it is.

I know what you mean about the key fob and it's enormous size. My C70 fortunately came with a dummy key for the dash slot - search OEM Starter Key for Volvo Part# 31268615 on eBay. They're $30 and totally worth it, and require no programming. Also your vibration could be from those tires - they may look good, but if they're hard and cheap it ruins the way these cars drive.
