That sucks about the underground area it's pretty cool. But at least you saw the rest of it. Isn't it amazing. I've had gnocchi before in Italy and it looked nothing like that 🤣 but I'm sure it still tasted good. On our tour of the coliseum the tour also included The forum and Palatine Hill with the guide so it was very cool to hear all the info about that area as well from a tour guide. Rome is great and I remember walking around and it was like every other block they were doing a small excavation there is just so much history.

When we went to Rome we used the Omnia Pass you get access to 2 museums free the Vatican and St. Peter's Basillica and museum the Hop on off Bus with audio tour and a metro pass for 3 days. Plus priority lines at museums including coliseum and 50% off any other museum. Colloseum and the Parthenon are where a lot of early Christians were tortured and killed.

Did you know that 200 cats live in the Colosseum and are cared for by volunteers? There is a law that states any feral cats in a group of 5+ is to be considered a protected colony and is to be taken care of by the citizens. There are numerous volunteers that feed and care for the cats of the Colosseum and other ancient sites around the city. Cats were valued in Ancient Rome not only for their practical use of keeping the massive rodent problems they had at bay but they were also revered as symbols of independence and were the only animals allowed in Roman temples.
