Glad to hear it is working well for you. After your first video we purchased the suction cups you suggested. They stick amazing to the Scamp, but for some reason they don't stick at all to our teardrop. We ended up putting some 3M hooks on our teardrop and they have been holding up surprisingly well. Thanks for sharing the update.

Good to know. I wonder if it is due to needing a glass like surface to work? what surface is on the tear drop? Aluminum?

Our surface is a plastic like surface. Similar to the surface you would find inside an rv shower. We assumed it would stick great, but unfortunately we were wrong.

Do you think its possible to connect the suction cup hardware right to they top of the camper?

This video popped up in my video suggestions and I'm interested in DIY awnings so I thought I would check it out. That's a pretty clever solution that looks great. I don't think it will work on the DIY camper that I'm building though. That's going to be a tough one to solve. Anyway, I like your channel so you have a new subscriber. Keep up the good videos.

Hey, love your channel. I just bought my first 16' Scamp and am inspired to mimic this DIY awning. Do you leave the suction cups on the Scamp through the season, or take them off during transit? Are the suction cups easy to remove without damaging the fiberglass?

@ kyoto32001: If you want shade protection in a windy situation -- but there's no rain in the forecast -- "shade cloth" would be my choice (Bob Wells did a YT video on using them a while back). Shade-cloth awnings seem to be the preferred sun-shades out in the desert places, such as the Burning Man event in hot & dry Nevada. But it works for people boon-docking in Arizona, too. Or here in West TX in the desert... Of course, a tarp can do both rain and sun protection, but as you said wind can be an issue. -- BR

Do you leave the suction cups attached while you're travelling?

yep and all winter in storage. We only had a couple fall off in storage over the winter.
