For the 3 sisters garden my advice is to write down the date of planting for every plant, because the timing is crucial so that the beans dont get shaded by the squash and corn. Its difficult to get it right for the first time, so if you write it down you can get better every year :)

Great farm. I'm in AB Canada. Our watershed runs west to east here. I planted bullrushes all along the west end of my dug-out,(or pond, as you would say)mixed with rocks. Then dug the drain(swale) on the east end. Any excess water in spring or heavy rains flows right out the swale staying on course of the watershed here. We love it. It's always got lots of mallards, loons, and many other water birds. I only raise a few turkeys every year for the family at Christmas. Horses are my stock of preference. I can't wait to see how your water and electric turn out for you here.

My parents met the folks who bought my great-grandmother's farm in New Hampshire (it's still a working farm) and they took them way out where they're clearing land--they pulled up MASSIVE stones, bigger than a human being, and they filled in the holes and replaced them in the original positions they were pulled out in. :o They look kinda like the Clava Cairns (used in the Outlander series to represent Craigh Na Dun).

When you bury your lines, don't forget to bury a wire in there along with them, a "location wire." Later this wire can be used to locate the pipes in order to avoid hitting them during excavations. You can connect a "radio" to the wire that will transmit a signal on the wire so that a detector can "see" the pipes down there! Hope this helps. Keep up the good work. Thanks for the content. בס״ד
