Our fault: Late admission By

"The truth is that we violated the pact. We are at fault".
This is a late admission on the part of Nawaz Sharif that Pakistan violated the Lahore Pact that was signed between India and Pakistan. The Lahore Pact was signed on the 21st of February 1999 between PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Pak PM Nawaz Sharif.
The pact focused on peace and stability between the two nuclear-powered neighbours. A few months after signing this pact, Pakistan violated it by infiltrating into Kargil leading to the Kargil war in 1999.
Nawaz Sharif chose the anniversary of Pakistan's nuclear tests to make the claim but also used it as an opportunity to showcase how Pakistan had not capitulated before the US in the face of sanctions.
The speech comes on the day he was elected unopposed as the President of the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz party, 6 years after he was disqualified by the Supreme Court.
