The spirit of nature is so grand in the breathtaking Rockies that I feel an overwhelming sense of the divine that is hard to put in to words but often moves me to tears. It's like being in nature's greatest Cathedral. I have lived in Calgary and skied in Banff and I have had the immense good fortune to live in Jasper also. Thank you for sharing the stunning video captures here and your adventures

Yes to all of this! 🙌 "Natures Greatest Cathedral" - this gave me goosebumps just thinking about it because that's exactly what it's like. The mountains instill a sense of awe and wonder that's so difficult to capture - and that's exactly part of it's magic. They are indefinable and need to be experienced. I live in Nova Scotia and have travelled across this country a couple of times. I have been following you since you got to our truly beautiful and extremely large country. Most people from one coast have never been to the other side of the country so you have seen two of the most beautiful areas in Canada. Based on where you are in this video, you are further away from me - in Nova Scotia - than I am from your home in England! Enjoy your time and you are more than welcome to come back to your first experience in Canada!

Wow awesome. It's interesting to see the contrast of how you guys are doing your trip through northern Canada compared to Itchy Boots. I'm so glad you guys went through Banff and Jasper and showed us the epic grand majesty of the place while Itchy Boots was on a less epic route but as a geologist, she provided some very interesting geological information about the formation of the valley she was in and the geological information for some of the glaciers. And sadly she also told us Lake Louise would lose it's turquoise colour at some point.

Funny story is I worked for the ICCL in Dublin Ireland for a long summer many years ago. Glad you were able to enjoy (and survive) my favourite part of this country. Just there last weekend. Winter is hanging on for an extra month, snow conditions skiing Marmot on the 15th were amazing for this time of year. S'mores by the campfire and egg & cheese buns warmed in foil for breakfast an Alberta camp staple. Word of caution, almost lost a pup on Friday when millisecond after I undid the leash, she ran onto ice to go after geese standing on the ice. She ended up in the water. A Scary three or minutes. A lot of sun spot activity this year, you should see some great Aurora for your travels north and south. Great content as always. Safe travels!

Yeah it seems everywhere is getting an extra dose of winter this year. Utah usually gets 300inches of snow but they were already at 800inches when we were there. Just crazy. Thanks for the heads up about the frozen lakes too. The one we were camped by was just rock beneath the ice, it was starting to break but water wasn’t beneath it yet. And the river at the end… it was 2ft deep but I let Ben go on that on his own. Hope your little pup was okay after the cold water shock, scary how quickly things can happen! 🐾🧡

So amazing to see in the winter and I'm so envious of that camping site! We drove the parkway both ways in September about 4 years ago and we were commenting that yep, it's pretty spectacular but the South Island NZ was pretty much as fabulous... until 4 days later in Jasper. 😀The smoke haze from the hundreds of bush fires all over BC & northern US cleared! WOWOWOWOWOWOWOOOOOOW! Did we ever take back our words. 😀Most of that HUGENESS had been hidden behind the smoke haze and when it was finally revealed.... just mind blowing. BTW, the mum in me get's very concerned when you walk out on the snow over rivers and lakes!

Ohhh New Zealand is a huuuge bucket list one for me, not least because Lord of the Rings was my love growing up and I think I will burst into tears when I see those landscapes in person 😂 But The Rockies were just like you say! The hugeness is SO hard to comprehend, our eyes were actually hurting from the expansiveness, if that makes sense lol. And thank you for the concern about the ice, but don't worry. The part of the lake we were walking on was actually stone underneath, it wasn't the water. And the river at the end was about 2 ft deep with 2ft of ice on top, so at worst Ben would just have very cold ankles 🥰 xx

I am so glad you enjoyed our amazing Alberta. I was born and raised in Alberta and live 3 hours from Jasper. The mountains and the park are amazing. Hope you are able to visit more of our great province on your return from Alaska.

Welcome back to the Great White North! The Parkway drive is even more spectacular in the summer. You can stop and swim in numerous lakes along the way in the glacier melt. The views and wildlife are even more spectacular, and it is well worth going out on the Columbia Glacier. Ah well, you can't do everything on your travels. At least you had clear skies. p.s. The bears are still hibernating. I believe I have seen bears on all 3 occasions that I have driven that road, or the roads around it. Keeping my fingers crossed you do not encounter any late winter storms.

Thanks Darryl! I definitely think both seasons have their perks. The snow was otherworldly, on the peaks and on the trees. And we didn't have any crowds which was magical. But 99% of the trails were closed and the lakes were definitely not turquoise 😂 Would love to drive in the warmer weather and see the difference. Gutted we couldn't get out on the glacier! Also, we missed ice skating on LL so April is definitely the worst time to visit 🙈

Hi you two plus two , I wrote a whole comment to you yesterday after watching this that was beautifully written 🤣if I do say so myself and then it up and disappeared and my brain shut down (as it still is a bit now). So I won't attempt to repeat it but suffice to say I found your post one of the most moving experiences for me of your journey. WOW WOW WOW is totally appropriate and no words do your expert sharing of those two days justice. Magical and gifted to us so generously. Well done and thank you so much. Love to you and as always, safe travels. ❤❤❤❤

Oh no! That's definitely happened to me before 😅 There is something special about the Rockies, they are SO grand and huge and honestly our brains just couldn't take it all in! Our eyes literally hurt by the end of the second day! Hope you're doing well Ellen, sending big loves from all of us xx 💜

Thanks so much, it was a such an insane landscape to drive through! 🧡
I didn't realize winter still held its grip out that way this late in the year. I always thought the "chinooks" took care of that. Never been out that way, but I hear from my wife it is beautiful.

I think down in Calgary it's much milder, but up in the mountains it was snow snow snow and a bit more snow 😂 It's breathtaking, no photos or videos can capture it in our opinion. Just something you got to see for yourself!

Oh you will love it! Million dollar view! If you get there earlier in the winter, bubbles form in the lake that you can see from the surface, it looks amazing! Unfortunately the ice had turned foggy and was covered in snow when we got there.
