There are currently three different types Chabacanos in the Philippines, Chavacano de Ciudad de Zamboanga is the most popular and thriving. The other two can be found in Cavite Province. Chabacano de Ciudad de Cavite and Chabacano de Ternate. Chabacano de Ciudad de Cavite is a mixture of Spanish and Tagalog, while Chabacano de Ternate is the most complex because not only it has Tagalog and Spanish in the mix, but also Bahasa Indonesia and Portuguese. (During Spanish times in the Philippines, the Spaniards went to Ternate, an island in Indonesia and seized several locals who speaks Bahasa and Portuguese, and they settled in Cavite which the Spaniards named Ternate (the same name of the island in Indonesia). They are unintelligible, except may be the Spanish part. Both are dying.
@reneabrea4123 Жыл бұрын
Stop talking cavite.. Chavacano already dead in that province looonggg time ago. Do not mix history here. Only Zamboanga retain the true identity as the only Chavacano speakers in the Philippines.

Thank you for sharing that information yes Chavacano language is dying now in Cavite provence. But there are still few people that are trying to teach younger generation about that language. And don't mind the other one commenting history is part of teaching other people about the culture and language.
@ProximaCentauri88 Жыл бұрын
@@reneabrea4123 I personally know people who live in both Ternate and Cavite City who speak Chavacano. Chavacano is threatened to endangered in their cities BUT definitely not dead esp. in Ternate where some children as young as one can speak Chavacano.

There are several eucharistic celebrations or Catholic masses held during the day especially on Sundays in most parishes in Zamboanga depending on the schedule. Some of these are in Chavacano,Cebuano or Bisaya and Tagalog but most common is in English. Zamboanga is a melting pot of ethnicities and culture in the south. People here easily switch from one language/dialect to another. Another thing I've noticed about you,you almost always exclaim with Ay!That is something that Pinoys do too most especially marked I've observed in Zamboanga.
