Going to recommend investing in walking shoes and not cute flats bc your body will start to really feel it. Your feet will stay tired and you might find it bothers your knees and lower back too. My first time in France I was barely out of college but just wore hiking boots and even at that young age, it made a huge difference.

I turned 75 yesterday and you can trust me when I say, 1) you guys are NOT old, and 2) living in this part of the world keeps you young, and alert as to where you are walking and what type of shoes to wear. In MIlano, where the Italian rich and famous go shopping, men and women both wear athletic shoes even with fashionista outfits haha. Maybe they're 3,000 euro sneakers, but sneakers nonetheless. And btw, last year was a LOT hotter than this year. So as I like to remind myself frequently, count your blessings 🤣 Stay strong! Hugs to you from Liguria Italy.

Hi KJ and Tony, thank you for your videos from Nice and the Côte d'Azur. You are in the midst of the a heat wave..😒. Like most heat waves in Southern France, it should not last long. One way to get cooler is to travel to the surrounding mountains and have a plunge in the Alpine lakes (many locals do that). Another way is to take an afternoon nap and get active early in the morning and past 5 pm keeping your shutters closed, drinking lots of water and spraying yourself with Avene water. Do not overdo it. Slow down. Your body needs time to readjust and plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables. When will you make a video about life in Nice (and Southern France) and your thoughts on living there? That would be very interesting for many of your subscribers. Take care and keep cool, Seb from wintery Melbourne, Australia.

Fun fact : At 5:18, on the front of the public toilets, there is a sign with the sentence "Je pisse donc je suis." It means "I pee, so I am." It is a joke about the quote from famous French Philosopher Descartes : "Je pense donc je suis", "I think, so I am" or in Latin "Cogito, ergo sum". Welcome to Nice !

I believe you really did arrive at just about the warmest and most humid spell.... normally it is not nearly as bad (lower humidity and temps). In Nice, about 25% of homes actually do have AC, unlike the rest of France (at least in the center). It is more rare in the Old Town, however, due to restrictions on placement of the compressor. We are in the Carre d"Or. Ours works quite well and is pretty efficient.

Oh I feel you with the walking thing. I love La Rochelle but it's so hard for me to walk there lol....the cobblestones are big and shiny/slippery and uneven. I bit it hard last year, went head over heels in front of everyone on the sidewalk, and bruised my leg. I don't know how everyone else does it. Hope the rest of your trip was a little cooler! It was wise to go during the summer in order to get a "feel" of the heat. There isn't the AC the way we have it in the U.S. Definitely get yourself "trainers" for walking. Even in Milan, the well-dressed women wear them and they will relieve a lot of the fatigue. Have fun!

If you want a good laugh, read about the history of the statue of Apollo in Place Massena. The story is hilarious and will make an interesting addition to one of your future videos. The story of Catherine Ségurane is also pretty amusing, and there’s a street named after her just off Place Garibaldi that you might enjoy exploring. I hope it cools down soon!

If you had been up for a long time then that is tired, not old! Look at you using your French in France! The weather is part of why I am recommending that you live in Paris. When you are cold, you can bundle up and have other resources for getting warm (hot drink) but when you are hot, there is only so much you can do--especially without AC! I vicariously enjoyed KJ's shopping. So cool seeing the Brazilians perform. I think the two guys were doing capoiera or whatever it's called--the dancing martial art. I get it confused with the drink caiprinha or something like that.

Now remember that I told you Nice was very hot in Summer in June through September and France and Europe doesn't do A/C (3% of homes) so you have to take that into consideration. I hear your remarks now imagine if you lived down there with no A/C to go back to in your apartment. You would be miserable. if you decide to rent there AND you need to check it out that the A/C does function before you commit as the owners and real estate agents will tell you "n'importe quoi" You will broil under that Mediterranean sun and there is no A/C down there like in FLA. Even in Paris nowadays the sun in Summer is like Mediterranean sun. Not so 40 years ago. Nobody has A/C here in Paris in there apt except me...But I'm American.
