Hello Philip! 😁👋 We got to see the snow festival as well which was definitely cool! We didn't make a video there (just shot some clips here and there), but the snow/ice carvings were really impressive for sure!

It sure is nice to look at cold weather when it's hot eh? 😁 This is the exact listing: www.airbnb.com/rooms/38625543?guests=1&adults=1&s=67&unique_share_id=b1afecc0-a582-4a07-a08b-67ded52c6894 Takashi is an amazing host and you'll have an amazing time! Just be aware that the bathroom/shower is really small.

Thanks a lot Niranjan! 😊 The second hand stores we visited are called Book Off / Off House / Hard Off (the store has three names so I'm not too sure which one is the actual name! Haha). They are all over Japan though, and there is a really cool one in Naha (Okinawa, Japan) called Manga Souko which is the coolest second hand store I've ever been to!

Would you say that it's ever too late to get into skiing and snowboarding?. Can anyone of any age start from the beginning as long as they are reasonably fit?
@lostthenfound
@lostthenfound Жыл бұрын
Hey ONCEbittenTWICEshyshyshy it's never too late to get into skiing/snowboarding! The best/most fun way to start is to take lessons with a friend/family member or to get someone you know who knows how to ski/snowboard to teach you! I wouldn't recommend going skiing/snowboarding alone your first time, as it takes a lot of effort to get into and it will be hard to enjoy at first. You can get the hang of it and enjoy it within a couple of days to ski/snowboard the beginner runs and then just keep progressing from there! Yujin almost didn't do any physical activity growing up and she learnt as an adult without official lessons, just me teaching her a bit of the basics and then the rest was up to her!

For added encouragement, I am ~50 and went with friends for just one day snowboarding last year (could barely stand for a couple of meters by the end of the day and could not for the life of me stand up heel-side) but decided to make an effort to learn this year and got the X4 pass in Korea. The first and second day this year just spent getting comfortable doing the basics, strapping in, skating, sliding slipping toe-side (I'm not flexible and a little too chubby to get up heel-side) then took 3 days of lessons (1 hr per day) to gain confidence to turn toe to heel and heel to toe (felt comfortable after day two but took an extra day). After that started on the high beginner slope and the intermediate slopes (due to suggestions by friends that they are easier than the beginner slopes, which they were) and now can comfortable enough to enjoy and continue learning. Really the one of the best decisions that I made, if I can do it I am sure you can too!

Hey Fred for some reason KZbin flagged your comment as spam so I didn't see it until now. (Approved it as non-spam as well). That's absolutely amazing to hear! Amazing job for overcoming the initial challenges, and really happy that you kept pushing! It's super inspiring that you were able to conquer it and even have fun doing so as a result! I really hope to be like you when I'm older, still trying new things and enjoying life to its fullest! 😁

@@lostthenfound You should do a deep dive into lonely death and suicide epidemics in these countries. I think those videos would be hits on your channel! Also youth unemployment and rock bottom fertility rates are interesting topics. I think with your editing skills you could rival Abroad in Japan.

Thanks for the praise Elias! I've worked for about 4-5 years in Korea doing camera operating for those types of video documentaries. We have filmed the poor elderly, sex workers, single parents, abandoned babies, North Korean refugees, and many issues in Korea. (Never done it in Japan though) Those videos typically require a lot of resources to pull off from my experience. We always had a producer finding the subjects and locations, reporters fluent in Korean/English, multiple camera operators, and production assistants watching our equipment and making sure the shoot goes smoothly. Even then we ran into problems with every shoot and barely pulled it off in a lot of cases. I don't think we could pull those types of videos off traveling for enjoyment while making videos at the same time, but I think we will have to try some new ideas soon if we want to push ourselves as an actual KZbin channel as we haven't had much success so far!

@@lostthenfound I hear your reluctance. It doesn't need to be a huge production. Bringing such stories to the world - and an English speaking audience - is truly a service to humanity. All stories must be sung, and if anyone is going to do it, I can't think of a better and more skilled individual than you!
@lostthenfound

@@eliastv5498 thanks a lot man! Yeah I totally agree that it doesn't have to be a huge production. That's probably something I have to do more. Focusing on quality stories/content and not just trying to make it look/sound good! Haha
