What we got up to in this video...
Me and Jess have now moved on from Malaysia to Singapore. Come with us as we share with you our first impressions of what is known as the worlds best city.
We managed to see a lot of things on our first day and also try some nice food from the famous Chinatown complex which was an amazing experience. We highly recommend if you go to try all the food suggested in Mark Wiens video as they were all incredible.

You were very lucky to catch the rehearsals for the National Day Parade! Dont see it everyday and it must have been so bizarre to see it all on your first visit to Singapore! Its always very interesting to see another point of view of Singapore, because as a local, we really dont see how amazing our country is through our own eyes! Thank you for visiting!

The army marching thing you saw, it's not at the F1 pit. It's a floating platform for national celebration. The parachuting is also part of the national day celebration. The day you saw it, it should be a Saturday afternoon/evening. It's a rehearsal. Normally they go through a few rehearsals over a few weekend. And they get primary school students to attend the rehearsal as part of their national education.

If you want some really good claypot rice, go to “Lian He Ben Ji” at Chinatown. Place an order, go sightseeing for an hour at the nearby heritage center and you’ll be back in just enough time for your order to be done. They’re extremely popular so the queue is that long.

Welcome to Singapore! If you want really cheap food, Bugis Hawker Centre (diagonally opposite OG Department store) is about a 10 minutes walk from your accommodation. Over there, you can get a decent lunch and local coffee for approx. £13 for 2 persons. From your accent, I take it you are from the UK - London? 😊 What you've paid, although cheap by western countries' standards, isn't considered really cheap when compared to hawker food prices. Claypole food isn't cheap by local standards.

Go try the Ah Chew Chinese dessert at Liang Seah Street in Bugis especially the mango sango with pomelo. You don't need to wear a face mask when outdoors. If you are in Canary Wharf London, the feels a bit like Singapore since it is way cleaner than central London.

Hi guys, pls enjoy ur stay in SG. U will spend way lesser in transport from point A to point B compared to big countries like malaysia etc. You can still get cheap items in local market. Do not go tourists trap shops etc. Enjoy ur stay here. Slightly expensive but if u dont drink n smoke, u will be fine.

We found the bus was a good price so took this out of the city a few times and it was fine. We ate at hawker centres so it was a reasonable price 😊 overall our spending wasn’t that bad so we are happy. It was great 😊

I bet you will definitely like that taste of coldness during summer time in your country....You have missed that Buddha Tooth Temple just next to the Chinatown complex...it is one of the attraction.

Yes we did walk past this and was thinking to go in but it seemed to be under a lot of construction I’m not sure if we went to the wrong place or not! We decided not to go in in the end.

@@Onthemovetravelstories Do pay a visit there if you had the chance. Admission is free and you can see the real Buddha Tooth inside the temple. Also there's plenty of nice and cheap food available all around Singapore. Do enjoy!

For beginners who doesn't know how to handle chopsticks, it is better to use the chopsticks to put the noodles onto a Soup spoon. It's okay to do that and it's easier to eat that way. Chendol has too much flavour for beginners. Ice-kachang will taste better. I've never try chendol myself because I don't like the green wormlike jelly, too much coconut milk flavour in it.

You can rent a bicycle at Esplanade near the Merlion and cycle all the way to East Coast as paths are all connected

@Richard Kahn From Esplanade to East Coast about 30 minutes or less .Just a different experience exploring Singapore on a bicycle. Weather is hot but it is ok and not like above 40 degree C in Europe .

What I mean by it is it’s the most expensive place we will visit during our travels probably. So if I compare it to other Asian countries it’s up there with being the most expensive 😊 but compared to London it’s still cheap or on the same level I would say 😊
