I’m trying to gather up the courage to talk to this dude at my college. He is hard of hearing and I like him. I’ve tooken ASL 1 (beginning class) and going to do ASL 2 (intermediate) in the spring. I know a lot of the basic signs, finger spelling and stuff. We’ve said hi about 2 times, but I haven’t had formally a conversation. So hopefully I get the chance to do that 😭😭😭

I have a question.. I see alot of deaf people who sometimes when they sign they wont even be looking at each other, but somehow they know what the person is saying, whys that?

Some/many deaf people can still read lips. You may be referring to how he looks at her speak instead of her hands, or when he looks in the viewfinder of the camera he can see all of her.

Hey! My little brother is deaf, and because it’s the only language he’s ever known, it’s almost like how we can hear people from a pretty great distance, they can use even the slightest bit of peripheral vision and understand completely :)
