Our First REAL Shower in Two Years!

We have spent the last week working towards making our A-Frame house a functional living space despite not being finished yet. Going back and forth from our A-Frame to our flooded RV in order to try and cook and shower has been both messy and inefficient with 3 children. It is time to rig up some temporary fixes, haul the RV out of here for good and attempt to live a more normal/efficient life.

Young people, you can learn a lot from these two. Two years of hard work, which they chose to have fun doing together, and look where they are. Working together is so important, and you two do it so well. Now you can have your future hard working adventures in relative comfort. I think the kids are loving it too!!

Awesome glad you have hot water! As a plumber the only suggestion i would have, is get two "18 stainless steel flex lines coming off the w/h nipples to meet code, the heat from the flue will eventually break down the pex. Love your journey!

I follow several diy homebuilders and my father was a constructor, so I see the connection. I think some professionals sadly hit dislike, rather than commenting, if they disagree with how something is carried out. Like the other day, someone did outdoor painting and did not get it done quite right. That resulted in more dislikes straight away. Because the result will lead to the wood ending up weather damaged in no time. There is this ”rule” that you should not contribute to any kind of criticism in the comments. So then they hit negative, instead of leaving their feedback.

Nice to have hot showers😁 a bit of advice, use a non combustible piping( copper) for the first 18” off a gas water heater, this is to avoid any melting of the water pipe if it backdrafts for some reason.✌🏻

Yar Nunya, you have my dream mudroom. I never had one when the boys lived at home. My youngest has a hall to the right from the garage. First stop half bath, and then a very large laundry room. I told him he should put a hanging rod in there for his wife. Got told no because I iron his shirts and everything else goes upstairs to the bedrooms and put away☺️. Middle son, walk in from the garage and into a laundry room. Shoes come off there then straight to individual bathrooms. Eldest son.doesn't have this setup because the previous owners build a Grammy room out of it and enlarged it as well. They have doors leading off the back deck into the kitchen. Take Care

At 8:12 - the wood boiler outside is "what is going to heat our home and our hot water"! I too zero in on people that say hot water heater, if you have hot water you don't need to heat it! That aside, I really enjoy your videos and I'm impressed that you find enough time to interact with your kids. Good job y'all!

one of the best things you'll experience about how you're doing this is that you'll appreciate each and every improvement, as they come online one-at-a-time. I think it's too easy to take things for granted, when they all show up together. Hug those kids for us! And each other. All the best!

Hi guys. just a proposition: days of teaching our children the art of DIY: electricity, piping, carpentry, farm animals, etc. Stay safe and happy!

Some things are best left to the teenage years, right? Don't want to see children learning about wiring and then fooling around and burning themselves. Same with piping to gas lines and using power tools. Great idea to teach basic carpentry with hand tools and care and feeding of farm animals. Great to learn how electricity and plumbing work, too without going into how to actually doing it.

Pamela Atkinson I disagree. Teaching them as much as they want to learn is good. As long as you teach them to only do certain things with supervision and explain the possible consequences if they don’t listen

@@Beandiptheredneck i disagree with your view. Children are children. They are already learning so much right now. They are seeing their parents working very hard. They have the notion. When the time will come, they will learn how to use tools etc.
