Josh, I think it's great that when people point out a possible issue, that you take it to heart, research, and don't take it as a derogatory to your abilities. I'm sure that there are some retired electricians that haven't kept up with the NEC code changes that have taken place in the past 10-15 years. The house is beautiful. The attention to detail and ability to turn something off the shelf into something that looks custom shows a calling for you and Erin to market yourselves as a design group if interested.

I love that you guys are setting such a great example of a good work ethic and stewardship of money. You set a goal even though it meant living in an RV for 2 years and worked really hard and didn't go into a lot of debt. That's called delayed gratification and so many in our culture do not know how to live like that. They expect instant gratification and then they are burdened with debt for years and years. Having built several homes my wife and l always have a south facing wall with as many windows as possible. You made a very smart decision when you chose to have a wall of windows. Come winter you will enjoy the light and heat of the sun that will pour in.

one benefit to 562k subs! a bunch of "inspectors" and I mean that in a good way! Wood floors do suck! did mine 16 years ago and spent the entire summer doing 1 room at a time -- that said they have held up amazingly so I'm glad to have no carpeting to mess with on the main floor!

Take this for what it's worth. This from a retired tile installer with well over 25 years experience. I HATE carpet, vinyl, and engineered floating or laminate flooring. They are all temporary flooring materials. Real wood flooring with proper care can last an extremely long time, if and when it starts showing age or wear it can be refinished or just recoated. Hard tile is meant as a permanent floor and if installed properly can last as long as the house. Wish I had taken a picture to share, we had a tornado come through a few years ago, laying in the pile of debris by the street was an entire tile floor from a bathroom.
