Great video as always, loved the introduction! Pub street looks fun but useful information about prices in relation to pub street and other areas. Interesting to hear Cambodia is a bit more expensive compared to other countries in Asia, will be good to see what you think when you travel to other areas in Cambodia ☺ Thanks for the tips as always, great video guys! 🤗❤

Oh really, that’s such a shame. It has such a lovely character about it and it was a beautiful street but I guess, like a lot of places, it’s become very quiet since covid. Fingers crossed it returns to its usual busy, lively self soon! Thank you!

This video is so informative!!! Thank you!!! Did you find it cheaper to stay in a hostel VS getting an Airbnb?
@jamieandhannah_
@jamieandhannah_ Жыл бұрын
Thanks guys! 🥰 yeah it was cheaper for sure, we paid $14 a night for a private room in our hostel whereas I think Airbnbs were $20+, but there are some nice Airbnbs there so it's worth a look!

I think the price went up in general. But in the touristy spots are mote expensive 🤔 they used to have two prices on the menu local and tourist not sure if they still do that now. 🤔
@jamieandhannah_
@jamieandhannah_ Жыл бұрын
We didn’t see two prices (usually) but perhaps since the closure along pub street (covid) and just the rise in tourism it has probably increased quite a bit. We enjoyed a drink along there but stuck with the local restaurants a little outside and found it very affordable 😁

Did the beer go up? It was $.50.

We found some at $0.50 but most around a $1, still very affordable and great beer! ☺️

The name "Siem Reap" comes from the Khmer language and is derived from two words: "Siem" meaning "Thais" and "reap" meaning "defeat," referring to the ancient conflict between the Khmer Empire and the neighboring Thai Kingdoms. The name is said to commemorate the victory of the Khmer King Ang Chan over the Thai forces in the 16th century. The name Siem Reap literally means 'Siam defeated'.

Glad you enjoyed your trip to Siem Reap. Pub Street is overpriced and not worth the extra cash. Plenty of other places to eat.

Pub Street is a tourist trap. If you could go a few blocks away, you can pay a lot less for the same locals but there's always an option in life. Be kind, be cool, and be happy. Greetings from a genocide survivor under dictator Pol Pot. Only memory lives on. Cheers 🍷

Cheers! 🍻 Agreed; we enjoyed the local restaurant we found and it was much more affordable. I think pub street is good as a one off experience with friends over a BBQ or something ☺️ Thank you for your comment, it’s amazing to hear you are a Genocide survivor, it's so sad what Cambodia went through. What an incredible story you must have.

@@jamieandhannah_ Another killing field survivor here, I went back to Cambodia for the first time in 30+ years after my resettlement in the US. I had a chance to visit Angkor Wat for the first time in life and experienced the nightlife at Pup Street for a couple of hours. I was prepared to pay higher than other places at Pup Street as I did when I was visiting New York. I had a good time at Pup Street, love it much more than my experience in New York. And as a tourist, one’s has no reason, no right and should never complain about the price in any corner of this world, especially at a top tourist attraction,Pup Street is no exception. Thank you for visiting my homeland. I wish you a safe and fun vacation in Cambodia.
