Your comment about SHINee not having a main singer is correct. They have said it themselves “SHINee doesn’t have a main vocal, we have five”.

Shinee is a veteran idol group that have been a leader in the kpop world since 2008. Their story is filled with both happiness and sadness and I feel honored to be a shawol. I hope there are more people who request videos for our boys cause they deserve as much love as we can get them. They are inspirational to their fans and fellow kpop idols and play a major part in the sm entertainment scene including helping exo when they debuted ( i know you guys have watched a lot of them). Shinee is just a well rounded, and grounded group that all kpop listeners should know.

SHINee's version of "Dear Name" is different than IU's original version, so if you haven't heard the original version, I encourage you to check it out. If you pay attention to the lyrics of the song you will see why this song is so meaningful to SHINee -- SHINee's version of the song is dedicated to Jonghyun, SHINee's main vocalist who passed away 3 years ago (6 years now). So, the "Dear Name" they are talking about is Jonghyun. Fun fact: IU's song "Gloomy Clock" -- one of her older songs -- was written by Jonghyun. Jonghyun and IU were really good friends and when she heard "Gloomy Clock" she asked him to give it to her. Jonghyun always said that after hearing IU sing "Gloomy Clock" he knew the song was meant for her, and in hindsight he thinks he might have subconsciously written the song with her in mind. Because IU and Jonghyun were so close, she knows the deep meaning "Dear Name's" lyrics have for all of them, so she was surprised that out of all of her songs, this was the one SHINee chose to sing -- that is why I think she was so still and quiet during their performance and didn't really look at them, because it was super emotional for all of them and she didn't want to cause herself or any of SHINee members to break down if they made eye contact. "Dear Name" is also a super difficult song to sing. Even IU says she has trouble performing it because of the song's complexity. Therefore, SHINee is just proving how outstanding they are as vocalists and why they are considered one of the top groups in the industry. IU didn't sing with SHINee because the whole premise of this segment of the show is that they covered each other's songs. IU also did a cover of SHINee's song "Sherlock (Clue & Note)" in this same interview. Just wait until you hear just how unique and cool IU's remixed version was. Both covers are way different than their original versions. As you may know, IU is a solo Kpop artist who debuted 4 months after SHINee, who is known as "the nation's little sister." She is known for her amazing vocal range and for her cute bubbly personality. She is also one of Korea's top actresses -- she has even acted in a drama with SHINee's Minho, who is also a top male actor. And she has had song collaborations with SHINee's Key and Taemin when they were younger. In the show, IU actually mentioned how SHINee's leader Onew was one of her favorite male voices and they talked about how they should do a collaboration together -- which I am sure would be heavenly. (Frankly, after more than 16 years, I'm surprised that they haven't collaborated together already.) Yes, all the members' voices are very dynamic. SHINee are one of the top groups that are known for the fact that they all can do it all. They are a group of 5 amazing vocalists, 5 impressive dancers, 5 visuals, 5 rappers, 5 top actors, and 5 of the most talented and unique voices in all of Kpop. Once you get to know their voices you will always be able to pick them out of a crowd just by the sound of their voice. Fun fact: The order you see the members of SHINee sitting in is the order that they always sit or stand in since debut days. They will always stand with Onew on the left, Taemin next to him, (Jonghyun in the middle,) Minho next and Key on the right. Even their starting positions in their choreography will often have them standing in this order. You almost never see them in interviews or in press photos, not in that order. SHINee are known for their ballads and for their amazing harmonies, that is why they are so highly respected in the industry. Their live vocals are unmatched and everyone in the industry idolizes them for the amount of talent they have. They are some of the best vocalists in the industry. And just think, Minho is the main rapper of the group. How often do you see a rapper that can sing as well as him? And notice how Onew doesn't even have his in-ear monitors in, so he is only relying on his voice to make sure he hits the right notes -- he actually says it's easier for him to sing when not wearing them. Onew is also known for his ability to hold notes for a very long time. He actually holds the record for the longest continuous note without changing tone or pitch -- 40+ seconds -- when he performed a cover of the song "Friend" in concert, kzbin.info/www/bejne/ombae3evoNRosJo. You really should see this whole episode of IU's Palette ep. 5, kzbin.info/www/bejne/aH3RdJSbmKh3mpI. The whole episode is really good. It will help you to get to know SHINee better and to learn a little more about IU. This interview will help you to understand why SHINee are so highly respected by their peers and what it was like in the early days for SHINee, etc. (SHINee were on the show promoting their "Don't Call Me" comeback, so this was in February 2021.)

Thank you for bringing Shinee on to the channel. A veteran idol group of five members, RIP Jonghyun, who are the best of the best. They are known as SM's experimental group so their discography is all over the place and they slay, slay, slay all day, every day! Their leader, Onew, the guy at the end who blew you away is widely thought to have one of the best voices in K-pop. If you are going to dig in to Shinee I'd recommend starting at the beginning (2008). The growth of every single member is amazing to witness. Taemin was just a little bit when he joined.

The woman in the video is IU, an extremely popular and well-respected kpop singer. She hosts a show on her KZbin channel called Palette and she invited Shinee as guests during their 2021 comeback. On every episode, if the featured guest is a musical artist, IU will cover one of their songs and they will prepare a cover of one of her songs. So here, Shinee is covering her original song. One further note is that when IU released this song, she said it was meant to be a condolence. Jonghyun, a member of Shinee, passed away in 2017. IU and Jonghyun were good friends. So Shawols (Shinee fans) interpret this cover as a tribute to him. I enjoyed your reaction and hope you do more videos on Shinee. They are the one group with absolutely full package, and even at live stage in energetic choreo their vocals are incredible strong and stable. But PLS check up more SHINee ballads, because their vocals will show case more. And then please from their time with dearest Jonghyun- and as he said with his own words; "SHINee doesn't have a lead singer, they are all lead singers!!" #OT5 forever!!! For a start I would suggest "An Encore" live from SHINee World concert IV, "Sleepless Night" (will blow you away), and some really good R&B , pure vocal gymnastics- "Romeo & Juliette," live from SWC V. And then the live duet between Onew and Jonghyun "Please don't go" (SWC V). PLS check it up!!!

Another way to experience SHINee is to watch the opening set of one of their concerts. SHINee World III, IV, or V would be best. Their performance is at a very high level, to the point they call it the "SHINee Standard" for Kpop concerts. And then if you have another couple of hours, watch the rest.
