Craig. Take it from a guy who's been married 40 years. When your wife hands you food she's made, you don't complain about it. Dude. Seriously. I love your videos and your quirky personalities. You both seem like people my wife and I would love to hang out with. Looking forward to this Alaska trip.

Stoves have a feature called a damper. I am not sure you found it. Generally when fire is visually going up the chimney the damper is open. The heat will fly out the chimney.
@wildrvlife
@wildrvlife 5 ай бұрын
Yes! We opened the damper before starting the fire, but didn't film that part. Seemed like it was working as far as we could tell
@gusgus2539
@gusgus2539 5 ай бұрын
@@wildrvlife After the fire is going strong you close the damper to stop heat going straight out the flue. Only open it to add wood. It saves your wood supply from burning so fast, and the heat radiates out through the stove. Fuel burns slower and the stove is hotter.

Bragg Creek is a hop skip & jump from Calgary & my stomping grounds. It was pretty wild to have you shoot areas of Elbow falls that I had taken still shots of! The ice cream shop is cool too, candy & ice cream, can’t go wrong with that! That area is truly beautiful & any month of the year you could have all 4 seasons! I think every Floridian should visit Canada at least once in their life, not knowing anything about a natural fire place or how to set up a camp stove is just common knowledge for us Canadians. Also if the BBQ lighter runs out of gas you should still be able to use the igniter part to light the stove. Plus you also had matches at your disposal. Looks like you managed to get it figured out regardless.
@wildrvlife
@wildrvlife 5 ай бұрын
Well, it turns out using the same technique we used in our wood burning fireplace that we had in our house in Florida basically worked just as well for a wood burning stove. Granted, we never let our fireplace burn through the night because that isn't really safe 😅 But, we do use BBQs in Florida too, by the way. I (Victoria) don't usually, but it's ok, that's why I've got Craig lol

A little too rustic for us. Better you than us! Enjoyed the video, though.

Leave to me to bring up something negative. Sorry! But, I gotta ask…are there no bears up there? I don’t believe that dome is bear proof, and your delicious smelling Chinese food (with the mushy broccoli 🤭) might be tempting for a bear!!! Don’t get me wrong, because I absolutely LOVE the idea of being off grid on that river. But, I’d be laying there wide awake, bear spray in hand…ALL NIGHT!!! Maybe I’m just a paranoid city girl🤷🏻‍♀ GLAD YOU’RE SAFE!!!

You know, I didn't really think too much about how bear proof the domes were, but now you've got me thinking of that part where we both heard "something" outside 😬😳

If you think your dogs don't know the difference between a home on wheels and a spot that doesn't move, you're wrong.

I'm not totally sure what this is in reference to, but yes! They love our home on wheels, getting to move to new places and experience new smells all the time.
