The OG version is Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas was back in 1966, and it featured the voice talent of Boris Karloff, one of the Godfathers of the B horror movies. It was made for television, so it's not as long as these movies, so it follows the book better, where the movies have a lot of filler for run time. It's also where the song " You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch" comes from.

I love how each Grinch has their own reasons to hate Christmas but still finding reason to love it because of Cindy-Lou. Classic - The over the top consumerism jaded him. Jim Carrey - Bullied and traumatised. This version - Growing up alone with no good memories associated. And the thing is, every single one of those are real reasons people hate Christmas. Maybe they’re jaded by consumerism and lack of heart, maybe something traumatic happened that is associated with it, maybe all they’ve known for it is pain and solitude.

Fah Who Foraze, Dah Who Doraze. Benedict Cumberbatch never hated Christmas, but actually hated loneliness/lonesomeness and being an orphan. His parents are dead. I feel really sorry for him. Fortunately, an adorable little girl tripled his heart in size and changed his life. Cindy is the heart of Who-Ville, who healed Benedict from his loneliness.

I won’t lie this version was obviously cute and the soundtrack was fire but the live action is just so much better in my opinion, Jim Carey just sells it and really gives you that grinch personality but for an animation this was adorable.

I didn't want to be impressed with this movie after growing up watching the original 60's cartoon (I both liked and hated Jim Carry's 90's movie), but this one holds it's own, there's a definite charm and I love it for what it is 💚 it's the latest era of The Grinch!
