template (n.) 1670s, templet, in building construction, "horizontal piece under a girder or beam," a word of uncertain origin, probably from French templet "weaver's stretcher," a diminutive of temple, which meant the same thing, from Latin templum "plank, rafter," also "consecrated place" (see temple (n.1)). The meaning "pattern or gauge indicating the proper shape in a finished work" is recorded by 1819, in masonry; earlier in this sense as temple (1680s). The form was altered mid-19c., probably influenced by plate [Barnhart], but the pronunciation did not begin to shift until more recently (templet is still the primary entry for the word in Century Dictionary, 1895).

"Mirror mirror on the wall" is actually a Mandela Effect. Collective consciousness erroneously remembering something. Its actually "MAGIC" mirror on the wall. Just thought I'd add that clarification.

paternal (adj.) early 15c., "of or pertaining to a father," from Old French paternal "of a father" (12c.), from Medieval Latin paternalis, from Latin paternus "of a father, fatherly," from pater (see father (n.)). By c. 1600 as "proper to or characteristic of a father; from 1610s as "inherited from a father."

archetype (n.) "model, first form, original pattern from which copies are made," 1540s [Barnhart] or c. 1600 [OED], from Latin archetypum, from Greek arkhetypon "pattern, model, figure on a seal," neuter of adjective arkhetypos "first-moulded," from arkhē "beginning, origin, first place" (verbal noun of arkhein "to be the first;" see archon) + typos "model, type, blow, mark of a blow" (see type). The Jungian psychology sense of "pervasive idea or image from the collective unconscious" is from 1919. Jung defined archetypal images as "forms or images of a collective nature which occur practically all over the earth as constituents of myths and at the same time as autochthonous individual products of unconscious origin." ["Psychology and Religion" 1937]

prototype (n.) "a primitive form, original, or model after which anything is formed," c. 1600, from French prototype (16c.) and directly from Medieval Latin prototypus "original, primitive," from Greek prōtotypon "a first or primitive form," noun use of neuter singular of prōtotypos "original, primitive," from prōtos "first" (see proto-) + typos "impression, mold, pattern" (see type (n.)). In English from 1590s as prototypon.
