I would let the mast dry up for quite some time before installing the mast-cap. Maybe build an umbrella/bimini for the mast? I would very much prefer to see the wood humidity below 20% before closing it up and hence, avoid further rot. Do not be hasty with such crucial parts.

Love your channel and have watch you since the beginning. I was a sailor until 2020 when I sold my my boat. I am now the owner of a 65’ smudge pot! It is a wooden 65’ Chris Craft Constilation. I really appreciate how you attack and fix issues on Yaba. It gives me the confidence to handle repairs and upgrades on my classic boat. Keep up posting all your projects and thank you for keeping me entertained every week!

Congrats! I subscribed and have been following you from the beginning when you bought Yaba and started your journey. The ‘short’ repairs to stop Yaba from sinking turned into a ‘long’ total rebuild which was amazing to follow but incredibly hard on you both to complete. So well done. Many would have given up.
