Removing the teak deck is a good idea. It will definitely be an adventure! Btw we have check in uniforms. We have clothes we in only wear to check in. Including a jacket with a yacht club logo. We have seen this do wonders. 😊. Of course not needed at the gas station!

Ohhhh it’s been a HUGE “adventure” so far hahahahha! That’s a great idea about the outfits - we saw Delos do this years ago. May try it out!

Regarding letting the propshaft free spin: Some transmissions are designed with an oil pump driven by the first motion shaft. In this design bearings are fed lubrication only when the engine is running. Other designs are splash oil lubed and are ok to free spin. Check your manual for manufacturer's instructions. Shaft motion without lubrication is never a good thing...

Apparently GRP decks are an option from the yard. Teak is nice but a right pain and expensive to maintain. When it comes time to replace our 352's decks GRP is likely to be the preferred option but a few years off i hope. Check out A Boat Called Wanda a 352 converted to GRP decka, loads of good advice.

Thanks for the tip!! Yeah we’re in the HR Club Group on fb (tons of info on there) and know about Wanda very well! We will just be happy to have a fully sealed deck at the end of this - not the brightest idea to put 2000 screw holes in the deck originally hey! Lol

Teak looks nice but I would much rather have the confidence of a dry core over the looks of a teak deck. Can't wait to see how it turns out.

100%!!! It’s been quite the journey so far lol, get ready for it !!
@@sailingjoco if the teak can be restored I’d do that . If the boat was in Annapolis it would sell teak or not . But if someday you want to put synthetic teak that has the color of weathered teak I’d just paint it for now and get the work done while you feel like doing it . I had a broker tell me teak is for rich guys . They just pay to have it replaced every ten years or so . Here’s my best advice . Take a heat gun, heat up the teak then pop it off where it stubbornly stuck . It sucks

Customs etc officials should be viewed the same as airport officials. You should be wearing proper clothing, when dealing with them. It's a common lapse with sailors, that they can get far too comfortable, dressing super casual, because it's hot and they have no A/C on anchorage. You should wear clothing like you were going to dine, on vacation at a place that has a dress code. It shows respect.

Yes as you may have heard in the episode, we def could have done better !

It’s beautiful but a looooot of work for sure! Sometimes you gotta take the good with the bad , the good is HR !! Can’t go wrong with that haha.
