My husband had the best response. Before we were intimate for the first time I let him know that I had lost about 190lbs and I had loose jiggly skin and he basically said to me “how do you know that’s not what I’m in to?” And to be honest it’s never been and issue for either one of us. I just had loose skin surgery (& muscle repair) on my stomach in December- it’s NO JOKE, physically or mentally. I have over 2ft of incisions on my abdomen alone (vertical & horizontal!) Now all I get is “when are you doing your arms” and even “are you doing any revisions?” - you can’t win and it never stops. People really need to talk about that aspect more too. 💙

I am making enquiries to have my stomach done only because it impacts me negatively in my day to day life. As for the rest of my body, yeah sure, I have a tonne of loose skin! But it's manageable and something I have chosen to live with. It reminds me of where I have been (770lbs +) and motivates me never to look back. Great job on the weight loss, you are beautiful whatever YOU decide to do Xx

So I don’t really feel I have a choice if I want to live a somewhat normal life. After many failed attempts with diets and lap band surgery, I found myself at over 770+ lbs (ERR on scales). I've lost 495 lbs and I'm currently 275lbs. Loose skin? YES.. SO MUCH! I still have a long way to go in my health journey. My stomach is an issue and negatively impacts me daily. For this reason I will consider skin removal for that area. The rest of my body I can live will.. nothing a long skirt or long sleeves can't hide. I wear my loose skin as a badge of honour. I was in a dark place for many years and I am proud to have finally found the strength and courage to dig myself out of that hole. Honestly the backlash we get is horrible... damn you for letting yourself get that large, and damn you for loosing it you are still a freak! Honestly, I just don't care anymore. We are all unique, special and tackle life and obstacles in different ways. There are so many beautiful supportive people out there. For those who have their shit together get a room! If you have nothing nice to say then move on. For those with loose skin, embrace it. Your journey has been a difficult one but look back at what you have overcome! Thanks for sharing your thoughts ObesetoBest! I am new to your channel and your story is amazing!! Very inspiring! Xx

I've never shared this story on social media, but this video seemed an appropriate time. I had a childhood friend, very pretty, normal weight but with a curvy pear shape (larger butt). She had liposuction and it caused damage to connective tissue. The scarring caused her to be in chronic pain, which she endured for 12 years. A few months ago, she decided to not live anymore due to the pain. I share this because no one should ever tell another person that they should have surgery because of how they look. Surgery is dangerous and leaves scars and is a very personal decision. I recently lost some weight and I am a bit older, so my skin looks a bit saggy. I would rather be naturally the way I am than have the risks and scars of surgery. People are beautiful is so many ways. Let people decide for themselves.

Yes. This. We all can see the visual outcome but we dont see how much pain and damage it can cause to people. Also who has time to go into recovery for a month or two? Its not a dentist appointment that goes away after 1-3 days. Your skin is literally being cut off and put together. That s* is going to take time, idk what about other people but i dont have enough income or support of someone who will care of me for a couple of weeks when i cant go to store or anything. I dont even have lose skin, but have more empathy than these dudes.

I asked this man to take off his shirt so I could do an ECG. He was hesitant and said I have a catheter bag would you like me to empty it, I said no, it’s fine doesn’t bother me at all. Obviously someone has asked him to empty it in the past. This man fought bladder cancer and came through the other side. Some heartless person has obviously made a comment about his catheter bag. It reminded me of the people commenting on the lady with the loose skin post, like well done but we don’t have to see it or pls don’t show it again. What the hell is wrong with people

To me it is more of a badge of permanent shame. A reminder that I ever got to that point. I'd be horrified. If I lose 50 pounds to get to where I was before I got chubby and ended up with loose skin I'd remove it. But, that being said. I'd never make fun of someone for having it or try to ruin their day. As long as someone is trying to be healthy its a win in my book. I think we as a country, at least in america...and slowly other countries as well, are being poisoned. It is way harder than it should be to just enjoy what you think should be modern luxuries and convenience without getting poisoned. Anyone escaping the cycle of poison is a good thing. I'm just lucky I got to my age where it never... got to the point of obesity.

I have lost 255 lbs. From 388 to 133. So, of course I have A LOT of loose skin. My husband married me @ 350, so it’s not a problem for him, of course. I have a hard time with the fact that I look weird in short sleeves, and things just don’t fit the way I want them to. The thing is, I will NEVER have the surgery. Never. My mom started her weight loss journey @ 420 lbs, when she got to 145, she had a full body lift, breast implants, and massive amounts of skin removed from her arms and legs. She never fully recovered. I was the one who packed her wounds that wouldn’t heal, because due to WLS, she just couldn’t get her nutrients to where they needed to be. She just couldn’t heal! She spent the next few years basically bed bound, until I lost her. I have two sons, 13 and 9. I don’t feel I have the luxury to roll the dice with my life like that. I had my WLS because we had been trying to have a baby for 8 years!!! There was nothing in this world that I wanted more, than to be a mother! I needed surgery to repair my falopian tubes, which they refused to do until I lost 100 lbs. I had my WLS, one of my tubes was saved a year later, and we conceived our oldest son, 3 months later! My life is about them now, and I just won’t risk my life for my looks. I don’t think people really consider exactly what skin removal entails. The incisions are LONG and there are just so many ways for things to go wrong, especially for those with absorption issues, due to WLS!

She looks amazing - loose skin and all! She is radiating her accomplishment and strength. It takes so much to lose that kind of weight, and even more to put yourself out there like that. People are truly the worst online. I lost 145 lbs, and have loose skin, though obviously not as much as her, and I definitely don't have the strength required to show it online. You are strong for doing the same. People with that kind of self love, strength and power of will are generally wonderful to be around, and glow with it. In a similar way - I lost a lot of teeth due to childhood illnesses, and now have to wear partials. Many people say it would be better to get implants - but that's a painful process, and costs a huge amount of money. For me, it's not the better option - and that's no different than skin removal. Totally optional, and up to the individual. Sure, it's a conversation that has to happen in a relationship before physical intimacy - but if some idiot on the internet is worried about being "tricked" into that situation, then I'm unlikely to "take them home" anyway.

I'm SO glad you did. It seems like I'm sharing a lot of my story on here LOL. After I lost the weight and kept it off for a year, my doctor told me that now I needed the apron removal. I'll be honest the loose skin wasn't an issue for me. I also was hesitant because of the money. But my surgeon said the insurance would pay some of it, then went on to list the health problems associated with having a loose skin apron. Now of course many, many years later with 20/20 hindsight, I can see where it was just a cash grab. When the surgeon did the surgery he removed the apron and repaired a hernia (according to him). I never even knew I had a hernia. Anyway, as it happened the surgery was botched. So not only do I have a naked muffin top lol, loose skin on my arms, and loose skin on my thighs, BUT it nearly took my life. As a result of the botched surgery I suffer from chronic pain, as well as, other complications do to what this surgeon did. So my advice if your thinking about getting surgery is do your research, look hard into yourself to see why you want the surgery, and wait for awhile don't do this on a whim or under pressure.

I’m a mom of 3. I have also lost 140 pounds-still have another 40 pounds to my goal. Once I get to my goal, I would love to get surgery to have skin removed-though I am still debating it. My mother lost a massive chunk after having bariatric surgery 25 years ago. She then had the skin surgery. She made it fine through the gastric bypass-but it was the skin removal that we almost lost her from. Complications after Complications. The sutures wouldn’t heal. Her abdomen came open and looked like a muppet mouth. Then finally a DVT and pulmonary embolism from the surgery. I see both sides here. If it would greatly impact and improve your life, there is nothing wrong with wanting it done. If the risks don’t outweigh the benefits for you, and you are happy, more power to you and your skin.

I see people bringing this up a lot but the vanity part makes people forget it’s still surgery!! So I had my loose skin removed in September. Recovery was actually pretty easy (I had a full lower body lift, with a MR, 360 lipo and a small Brazilian). But here's the thing, it was easy IMHO bc of the dr I went with and being able to afford really good aftercare (biweekly MLD for 4 weeks etc). All of that came at a significant price and I'm super privileged to have been able to figure out how to swing that. It was such a confidence boost for me -- I would do it again in a heartbeat. But it did bring other issues mentally -- I was not prepared for the amount of attention from, well everyone. I get lots of comments on my body now (even from strangers) and I dislike that part, a lot. But it's also nice not to have my loose skin in the way of things. Complicated feelings I suppose -- just not getting obese as a teen and staying that way for 20+ years would have been easier. But sai la vie 🤷🏻‍♀️

I watched my friend go thru weight loss surgery and lose over 100lb in a year and she struggles with loose skin and body dysmorphia really badly. I have lost 60lb this year thru diet and exercise and also am starting to see some loose skin but after talking with her, we've realized that I have a healthier outlook on it simply because I lost the weight slower and it wasn't as startling to see the changes because hers happened so fast. I think that loose skin should be more normalized. I've had three children and that caused more skin issues than anything else and I find myself embarrassed by it when I shouldn't be.

I lost over 350 pounds. Of course I have a lot of loose skin. So much I was and am in pain. I already got 3 surgeries done for it. 4 to go. It is hard and I am very self aware with the skin. People were looking at me when I was obese and now they were looking at me because of the skin. Now I have scars. Will get even more. I will never ever look normal. But I am still valid. Proud what I did and continue my journey. Nothing will stop me. My scars are proof of my achievements.

This is the main reason I don't share photos of my weight loss journey online. People feel that you sharing that stuff means it's fine for them to make disparaging comments. I've got significant loose skin, but, I am like John, and don't feel that a surgery is worthwhile vs dealing with it. Some people really hate it, and while it can be annoying having to wear compression garments to hold things in place, it's far less painful that surgery recovery, and I weirdly kinda like it? If that makes sense? It shows how far I've come.

Ive considered loose skin surgery pretty seriously. I even went to a plastic surgery consultation for it. But I ultimately decided against it. The downtime/recovery time plus risk of infection really worried me. I have three young kids and the idea of not being able to pick them up and run around with them during that time just wouldnt work. I had three kids in two years, which is the reason for my loose skin, but I just cant justify it for myself. At least not at this time. And as a result i wear some compression type clothes that helps keep my skin from moving around a lot because its just more comfortable. Its so silly for people to act like thats catfishing. Like everyone is out here broadcasting their flaws the moment they meet people. Ridiculous.😂

I follow many weight loss influencers that are losing or who have lost a huge amount of weight, and as someone actively losing weight myself, I’ve been interested in how people are handling the issue of loose skin. It’s encouraging to see someone that lives in their body with grace. Someone focused on health, and not just a goal to be physically up to par with a societal aesthetic. But hey, if that’s what someone feels like they need, I am cheering them on, too. I don’t understand why others think it’s okay to give an unsolicited critique of another’s body, but that is not acceptable.

Thank you for using your platform to show that we don't have to be "perfect" to be lovable or good human beings. And, to your point that we are not trying to "trick" someone .... some of us have other issues that are not visible to the general public, i.e., mastectomy, colostomy bag, etc., and like you said, we are in our heads knowing that we will eventually have to address the issue prior to becoming intimate.

However, I feel that all surgeries regardless of how simple or complicated always pose a threat of complications so I would never get a surgery for loose skin just because it’s not completely absolutely life-saving, but also, I don’t wanna take a chance on dying on the table. I lost about 100 pounds when I was in my early 20's. The loose skin bothered me so much that I spent 7 grand on surgery, out of my own pocket. I worked 2 jobs, 60 hours a week, saved every penny that I could. And that 7 thousand was just to remove the small pouch of loose skin on my lower stomach. The recovery process was also very painful and just an overall pain in the ass to perform basic tasks. Now, almost 10 years later, I still have loose skin on my thighs and upper arms. And I've grown to accept it. Never want to put myself through that process of skin removal ever again.

Similar story to yours, I lost around 90 pounds in my early 20s. My highest was almost 270 and I got down to 180 at one point. Now I’m 200lbs after years of weight lifting and probably some weight back. Lifting weights and working out helped a lot with my loose skin, but I didn’t anticipate how much it still would hang around years later, even for just my smaller weight loss. I had body dysmorphia for a long time and always just thought of myself as huge when I was only a size 12. I’ve mostly moved past it but it’s a struggle sometimes. I think getting cosmetic surgery would solve a lot of my issues, since in loose skin and surface tummy/thigh fat alone would probably help me lose those last stubborn 20lbs I can’t seem to lose unless I were to starve myself. It’s definitely a journey. Also everyone insists I wait until after I have kids or I will have to spend more money on another surgery. So I’m trying to enjoy my body now in my late 20s pre babies and not wait until an unknown time in the future to enjoy my body

However I have loose skin especially around my belly. I'm super self concious about it, I beat my abs up constantly trying to fill it out, but it's pretty much impossible for me to get rid of it. Other areas namely my chest, and arms, and back I have managed to fill out even if there is still some loose skin. I'm going to ask my doctor in March about what options I might have available to me, and if it's even possible for me to do it with my available funds. But if I can't get it I'll live. I just will have the most awkward looking six pack around and will have to own it. lol

I think: 1 however much money insurance companies allocate to weight loss surgery they should allocate the same amount for people who lost the weight naturally to have skin removal. Right now it’s almost like insurance companies punish people who do it on their own. 2. Nobody should ever be pressured into having a cosmetic procedure, if you want it, get it, if not, don’t. For as much as people say they are for body autonomy they always have something to say about what someone else does or doesn’t want to do with their own body when their decision literally impacts no one but themselves.

(Like the most recent notable example was cyberpunk) It's kinda treated as if its some disgusting disease. And, yeah. That doesn't do much for confidence. Heck, back in ~2005, they tried to advertise the removal of it with new names, to make it seem more hip and acceptable while barraging teen girls about how gross they are for having it. While ofc: Any male counterpart of it is utterly ignore and normalized. I mean, heck the tag on sites that allow it is often something like "grotesque_". It is quite baffling to see how people treat these things. Usually with a dose of bigotry.

In my country, a tummy tuck can be done for free under universal health care, and is treated as an extension of treating obesity, after bariatric surgery. Usually it falls under loose skin, causing orthopedic or dermatological issues. Arms, legs and chest (without implants) can also be done for free if you find a nice surgeon. I'm almost a month post getting a tummy tuck, and honestly it's amazing, although for me, it's not about "looking great". I already looked great with those 5kg of loose skin. But sweating during summer, risking rashes and burns, additional spine pressure, even excercising being difficult. I wasn't really able to jog or do half of cardio because the moving skin just hurt. Second best decision in my life after bariatric surgery.

Also, keep in mind that excessive lose skin is not a guaranteed fate. I lost around 120 pounds at the age of 42-44 with barely any. Maybe it is genetics, maybe it was the "long" time of 2 years, but aside from wrinkles near the armpits and at the very top of the thighs, as well as anything but firm skin on the stomach and some stretch marks, no traces are left from the years of overweight. But even if it starts to get lose, you can just stop at that point and you will be much more healthy and active. Life at 230 was already much better than at 300. I could lose another 20 pounds, but i stopped when i reached a 25 BMI. I see no real benefit for me in losing 20 more, but the skin would probably get worse.

One thing that people don't talk about having loose skin surgery is that if you want to get pregnant, your body needs skin to sketch, specially in the stomach and breasts. So even if we're just talking about aesthetics and not taking the safety and comfort in consideration, I prefer having my body as it is now than having my past strech marks + surgery scars + new stretch marks and loose skin from pregnancy. As for the loose skin in sexy times situation, I honestly don't mind mine and neither do my partner, but of course I have my insecurities and what I personally do is just avoid a certain angle or position that could make me self conscious or uncomfortable during sex. Girls. If your partner is more focused on your body not looking like a supermodel than being proud of your hard work and accomplishments, he's not seeing you the way you deserve to be seen.

In all my research I was not prepared for how difficult the recovery was going to be. Not to mention I unfortunately got complication after complication after complication and my surgeon is talking about needing to do a revision at my 1 year mark and I'm devistated. It doesn't feel worth it for the mild to moderate improvement. I still get skin infections and severe chaffin in other areas and would need to get several more surgeries to fix it. So now I need to weigh the risks and rewards. Maybe I'll get another or maybe I won't but that's my decision. Anyone who has not lost a ton of weight or gotten even 1 of these surgeries have no idea how intense it is. Each surgery has a 1 year recovery period. It's insane. And that is just the physical aspect of it. I didn't realize it would also be an emotional and mental journey because of the swelling and feeling constantly sick or sore as you slowly heal. Granted by 6 wks-3 months you do feel a lot better, but that time feels so much longer than it really is. Not to mention to financial toll, plus taking time off work, and a family member or whoever is taking care of you might need to take off work. And if you have kids or a lack of PTO, having holidays inbetween, other obligations. There are so many factors to consider because a skin removal surgery recovery takes over your life for several weeks/months.

It's too bad people are not really cognizant about how her post may be exactly what someone who is on the fence about losing weight needs to motivate their journey. As a person who lost 160lbs, gained back 100 and is now working to lose it, a post like yours and hers motivates me to focus on the health journey not the aesthetic journey. Keep up the good work, it never crossed my mind to get rid of my loose skin. It's my journey map and so far nobody has ever seen me and said whoa you're not quite there. It's always been encouragement for getting healthy.

I have loose skin from having kids and my belly skin stretching so tightly, and I had been so self conscious... but now it's just a normal part of me ❤ not the same as my whole body, but that's just life!

Im sure obesttobeast's reasons for not wanting to have skin removal surgery is because they will cut the nerves of the nipples to reallign them and he has sensitive nipples that he wants to keep sensitive for his pleasure. There you go.

After losing 120lbs in 2021 at 24 years old I had quite a decent amount of loose skin but decided not to have skin removal surgery until my partner and I were done having children. Since then I've had 2 pregnancies (currently 30 weeks pregnant) and actually gained 40lbs back during these pregnancies. It would have been so dangerous to have skin removal surgery and then have kids gaining that much back so I'm confident that I made the right choice. I am excited though once this baby is here to lose the regained weight using all the knowledge I've gained over the years on my journey and then revisit the idea of some skin removal surgery in the coming few years (potentially a 30th birthday present to myself to have a mummy makeover in 2026) but the loose skin does not define who I am as a person as it doesn't define you or this lady in the video. We are amazing for the hard work we put in to lose the weight!
