I had a 2025 electric Macan 4S on order since early August. No proactive updates from Porsche or dealer. Delivery was to be 12/27/2024 and I advised okay as long as it is delivered in December. End of November, called dealer to confirm December delivery, was told now delivery might happen some time end of January. I canceled the order and purchased BMW iX M60. Porsche has lost me as a customer. I walked into BMW unannounced, they had iX M60 with all the packages and options on the floor. I drove it home the same day.

You can track delivery on the app. Porsche dealers are ok but need a bit of chasing. I ordered my Macan GTS at the beginning of Sept ( this year ), it was built on 16th Sept and delivered early Nov. Porsche dealers tend to treat you a bit better if you’ve bought more than one car from them. Personally I wouldn’t go near BMW with a barge pole, not because of their cars ( which are ok, if not exceptional) but because I have been dealing with them since my brother died earlier in the year with a M440i on a lease and they are the most heartless, rude, horrendous company to deal with in the event of a bereavement.

@@xxscottvv its REALLY complicated but in all boils down to the fact they want money for everything, never reply to phone calls and emails ( despite claiming to have a dedicated bereavement team ) and have zero compassion. We ended up with a 10k bill just to have them collect and resell the car ( its only 10 months old ).

I have got my Macan 4 ice grey in November in Europe, Italy. I think that it has been manufactured after your mom’s car. I double checked everything, and I can tell you that there are no visible marks on the painting, and the alignment between the different parts if not perfect looks much better in my car. May be the transportation and the fact that your car has been sitting under the sun for some time is the problem. The fact that the front bumper has been damaged it could also mean that the car suffered from a sort of impact.

Wow. Watching your video just now makes me REALLY APPRECIATE the build quality on my still perfect 2020 Macan S. I don't have your detailing professional eye Coleton, but as far as I can tell my build quality is about as perfect as one can expect. Panel gaps are perfect, the hood lines up just as you mentioned it should. Interior has never rattled, buzzed or made any of the expansion or contraction noises most cars make from cold to hot or hot to cold. I think its's a keeper. (Plus it still has knobs buttons and switches 🙂)

My 2022 Macan S had to go back several times because of poor panel gaps ( doors and hood not lining up ). I now have a 2025MY GTS, and its slightly better but the doors still don’t line-up properly.

Bass should be tight, with easily delineated differences in tone and timbre. Other than some specific exceptions in genre or instrument solos, bass shouldn't dominate the music. In a well-balanced system, it plays a supporting role to the mids and highs.

The base system in the ICE Macan is pretty bad. I have the Bermester in my new GTS and its better than the base unit but definitely not worth the insane price.

I recently ordered a Macan EV and my original build was changed by the factory to remove the thermal/noise glass. While configurable it is not currently available. Luckily it was caught in time to add the rear wiper, since the glass and wiper are mutually exclusive.

The leather wrapped steering wheel airbag and the leather wrapped upper door panels with stitching are part of the full leather interior. The perforations on the seats depend on whether or not the seat is ventilated (visible in the configurator). That being said, the exterior fit and finish is truly disappointing. Hopefully it gets better with time.

Kyle, Your mom didn’t spec the “full” leather package. The upper door sill is leather in the full leather option, complete with stitching that matches the dash. The rim around the steering wheel airbag is also leather in the full option (vs the plastic that you noted in the video).

Not totally correct. Full leather doesn’t include the steering wheel. Leather on the steering wheel is specced to the wheel itself. So, in true Porsche fashion, a separate chargeable option

@ Yes, but what I stated was the the top leather package puts leather on the round housing that surrounds the center of the steering wheel, the airbag housing (not the steering wheel itself). I might not have made that sufficiently clear in the text. In the video, this is what they were complaining about as being plastic.

@@USMA81 the leather on the centre of the wheel comes when you spec the GT Steering wheel in leather ( or racetex ), not with any other options. Its separate to speccing the leather package, which adds leather to the seats and door trims. That car didn’t have either specced. If it did the top of the doors would have been leather and would have included the stitching they mentioned was missing. So the 2 options not specced, that gave them the issues, were the GT Sport Steering Wheel in Leather AND the Extended Leather. Just to make things even more confusing there is a difference between the Leather Package and the Extended Leather package. As may be evident from my extreme pedantry here, I’ve specced and bought 2 Macans over the last 3 years. My latest ( delivered in November) had $30k+ on optional extras. I lived the darn Porsche confuserator for months 🥺. Its both a blessing and a curse to be able to spec a car that much, and with my first Macan there were bits I missed and regretted.

@ OK, got it. I specified the GT steering wheel and so I got the steering hub leather. I thought it was because I had specified the full leather interior. Like you, I also added a lot of options to my Macan 4, delivered 1 week ago. I got almost everything right - just one, minor thing I’d would change.

The black inserts on the lower doors are horrendous. Some of these new design trends in the auto industry will prove to have zero longevity. People with poor taste or no eye for design are ok with whatever the market feeds them at the time. I don't buy 4 door vehicles that can't comfotably accommodate an adult in the backseat anyway, but it's sad to see them turn an otherwise well proportioned vehicle with good lines into an eyesore from the side.

Hi. Regarding the “electric” sign on the side of the car, it may be a relic from an early law. They wanted to make sure that firefighters and other rescuers were aware that it was an electric car they were working with, so that they could make sure to break the “safety loop” if necessary. This is the case in certain countries in the EU at least. Exactly the same way as the small light in the “H”yundai logo on the Hyundai Kona was supposed to tell a mechanic that the high-current battery was active, even if the car was off and not charging from AC/DC. It then tells you that the 12-volt battery is being charged by the 400-volt battery, which is why mechanics have to be a little careful about what they mess with when they open the car. Placed where it is, because then you can’t help but see it when the hood is opened. Little strange things that once made more sense than they do today. On the Kona, by the way, the most asked question in the world is probably exactly - what does this light mean? Have a nice day to you two car nerds and all viewers from Denmark.

Hey guys, great video. Was thinking about aero design etc. Does a rear wiper affect the coefficient of drag? I do prefer having a rear wiper but here's my thoughts. Basically every SUV or 95% have them at the bottom of the window. I would think a better design would be to have it tucked under the spoiler. It would be almost hidden for a clean look not to mention a better way to clean off snow because it would be pushing downward on first swipe. AND the coefficient of drag would be negligible. Anyway, that's my thoughts. I'd like to see our laws change and end the requirement for outside mirrors and use cameras for side views too. That's another rant

Honestly, the base sound system was the best in the old ICE macan. I got to test all 3 for extended periods of time and while it’s lacking a subwoofer and super low sub bass. The mids and highs were way clearer and cleaner than the other two. I’d honestly say the Burmester was the worst. Super messy and imbalanced but that’s pretty normal for Burmester. All new mercs are the same way. Even the Bose was pretty bad. I would definitely like to see Porsche move to Bang&Olufsen or Bowers&wilkins soon.

The B&W systems are the best at providing clarity and balance with a somewhat coherent sound stage, which is very difficult to do in the cabin of a vehicle. My experience with B&O auto is more limited but wasn't far behind, which surprised me a bit because I've never been very impressed with their home systems. B&O tends to be form > function in that environment.

Had a 2022MY S with the base system for 3 years. It was utter garbage to my ears. Really muddy sound and zero sound stage. I now have a 2025MY GTS with the Burmester. Its “better” but definitely not worth the insane price. Its amazes me that a nearly 5k stereo only allows you to adjust base and tone! The surround sound also just introduces a weird digital effect. Still better than the base though ( to my ears ).

Order another one in RWD with heads-up and swap it for this on at the dealership. Much better to wait a year to iron out faults for these brand-new models.

Porsche treats the 911 and everything else in different tiers. Different build quality, different quality of techs working on the cars at the dealership. I’m not surprised at all - I replaced a 2018 Cayenne with an EV9 and the Kia is substantially better built inside and out.

Okay we have a Cayenne, and I can tell you we do not have build quality issues. Also the ICE macan doesn’t have any build quality issues either, but it’s a real shame that the macan ev has them. It is just insanity that the ICE macan won’t be here anymore and the base macan ev will start at almost 79k before tax and there are build quality issues. This is a real problem especially cause consumers are paying crazy amounts of money for a macan ev to get trash build quality. Skip this and get a Q6 etron or just pay for a Cayenne idk what to tell u (usually I don’t say this), but it’s a shame.

I lived and worked in Germany in the 80's and 90's and sure enough Porsche build quality, in fact most German car brands build quality was never very good and usually the main issues was electrics back then also - for the price of these cars it should be near as damn it perfect... Is there also 'orange peel' effect on that paint as well?

Ive driven the 4S. This is car is fine gaps and all, but I wouldn’t pay more than $65K for it. Porsche makes so much money off its brand... and gets you coming and going on options so much it is just insane.

I have a 4 with insulated glass and the doors don't close as easy. Often need to reclose as they close only half way or I would need to slam them. I see that you don't have this issue with this one so I blame the insulated glass but it could be something else. Dealership told me that it's normal.... Pretty sure it's not.

I also have the glass upgrade and hard closing doors, but I highly doubt any relationship. More likely the specs on the door hardware.

@@USMA81 When I crack a window open or leave another door open, the issue goes away. GPT tells me it could be a ventilation / air pressure issue. Cars usually have some shafts in the drunk the push the air out when closing.

I wouldn’t generalize this conclusion with respect to all German cars. These quality problems appear to be an issue across the Porsche-Audi-VW Group. I’ve had my 2024 BMW iX Xdrive50 for 18 months and 15K miles and it’s the best built and designed car I’ve ever owned. Consistent panel gapping - as Coleton recently confirmed in his analysis of an iX - no squeaks or rattles when I drive, super solid build and awesome system integration between hardware and software. Great driving fairly large electric SUV and fairly efficient: 3 to 3.1 mi/kWh!

Subpar build quality on a $40K vehicle is disappointing. In a vehicle where the steering wheel, passenger seat and shifter are a la carte it’s a nonstarter for me. Maybe they should reach out to the Toyota/Lexus team instead of leaning on the Tesla/Rivian teams. Every day sat in this vehicle would be a reminder that you’re not getting. What you paid for, save for the badge.

But this was never about performance driving. Comparing the model y and the macan on the highway even you could see a difference in comfort.

@@louis3481 Cammisa and Pobst have spent sometime on tracks! Tesla did 8 laps against a G80 BMW M3 matching it exactly without overheating or brake fade. With similar performance rather than endurance tyres, it can do 15min races competitively for half the purchase price!
