Totally agree marriage needs these three components to stay strong I've been married for two years now and actually realized that without God and these components I wouldn't make it past first year . Got married December 2019, 2020 there was lockdown imagine you just got married now you have to stay under the same roof with this person 24/7 you still trying to learn their behavior but must say I thank God for allowing us to go through that cause we actually had that lock down experience together. The "us and the issue" being separate elements is 💯. I've always said, once your partner prioritises critism or attacking you, there is bound to be disrespect and disregard for each other's feelings. But focusing on the issue is healthier because both parties will objectively contribute to the solution without hurting one another.

Counseling in good and not so good days is important...all the work paid off..thank God we have grown and still growing together 🥰🥰

One of the things that have gotten me through some challenging seasons has been to always remember that marriages goes through seasons and seasons change, hang in there and push through the dry and seemingly cold and fruitless seasons and you will see better days. Married for 15 years the first 7 years were hectic for us but now we are going strong because we know each other's weaknesses and strengths, we no longer have heated arguments but we have different options . wow! i love this. I have been married for 4 years going to 5 this year and all i can say is this institution called marriage is not easy, yall need to put in the efforts to make it work. A lot of learning and unlearning needs to be done. Mine has been very challenging because we have been living apart since the start of our relationship 6 years ago but we still holding on. I met my boyfriend when I was 18 and he was 22, and just like Hungani, he knew what he wanted in life and I at that time was just existing. It wasn't easy at first because I wanted to enjoy my youth😅 but I eventually gave in and that was the best decision of my life. I appreciate this honesty when it comes to marriage. First 2 years of marriage was havoc for me as well and yes I did think that maybe I made the wrong decision, not because husband is bad, but the marriage dynamic is just deeper. One can never prepare you for that. 5 years in and it's way better. We are entering honeymoon phase now. You put aside feelings when you set into matrimony. Now it's a matter of choices, principle and intentionality. I must also say that God has given each person the ability to make this marriage work, but it's up to us to use those tools for the betterment of the marriage or use the tools to break and hurt each other. I love the honesty and I relate 100%

I am married,10 years in now and to be honest,we also didn't have the honey moon phase at the beginning it was really challenging because you get to really see the person for who they really are,it is a different thing living with someone than dating them,and boy things just got nicer and sweeter with time,I can say 2nd year towards the end that is when things flipped around and have been very good since but obviously there are always disagreements etc...but we are at a place where "you and me,it is forever,for life,this is my happy and peaceful place" so an advise to young couples,put in the work and be patient with one another.
