Wow, you saved money using your own mechanic. Thanks for info on make and pricing. I've had my Solis PX for a year and batteries still good and the AGM work great for me, too.

I’m sure with care your AGMs should last many years. I’m happy with the final price, I was expecting much worse!

Why did you go with starting batteries and not deep cycle batteries?
@roadstokeАй бұрын
Good question, they classify this AGM model as a dual use deep cycle and starting. Maybe it’s marketing hype but so far it’s performed well over 25,000mi adventuring. We’ll see…

Helpful info. I noticed on our Solis 59PX, our battery appears to be losing charge quickly, and not charging up to 13.6 volts. Your video is a sign for me to have someone take a look and stop procrastinating!

Glad you found it useful and thank you for watching!

Don't you think it would have been better for your mechanic to shop for the batteries before he removed the old ones? I'm in So. Cal. And find that i can't just walk into a parts store and buy them off the shelf, they have to be ordered and a lot of stores can't (or won't) even order them!

@@robertsheward9336 Good point. He did give me a number of options for batteries brands, it felt like he was very confident he was going to find any batteries I wanted.

The batteries should be in the van?
@roadstoke2 ай бұрын
@@OKFrax-ys2op Good question. I think AGM batteries are fine outside of the van as Winnebago designed it here. They have some cold resistance. Lithium batteries are definitely sensitive to cold temperatures and many owners upgrade to lithium and put them inside the rig.

Amazing information. I would be interested to hear about your renter experiences and if it worth the risk.

I've been entertaining the idea for a video about our experience renting our Solis. We're still renting it but it's work! Thank you for the feedback, I'll nudge it up my todo list!

So you've had these batteries for 4 months now, how are you liking them so far, any problems?
@roadstoke3 ай бұрын
@@robertsheward9336 After 30k adventure miles since then, they started well but the last weeks it seems to be draining too quickly so I run the generator for 30min before bed. We rent the van out so it very likely a renter(s) drained the battery and damaged one or more times. Part of the game.

So…you’re renting the van out until it is paid off and then will stop? Same here. We don’t have a lot of “competition” in our area as far as other rentals but I figured replacing with Lithium would be a nice selling point for prospective renters plus we will appreciate the added battery life. Do you charge your Solis when it is at home on a trickle charger or is it used frequently enough for that to not be necessary? Thanks for the video!

Glad you’re able to rent your rig too! We are renting to cover costs and maybe cut back on renting someday. We’re not getting rich renting our rig that’s for sure! I do plug in the Solis to our house with an extension cable to top it off maybe once a month. I have a link to the house power adapter in the description. Because I’m so booked out already, these upgrades won’t change my revenue, but someday for my own convenience, I could see lithium being nice!
