For sure, especially with a band like The National. I actually enjoyed the album. They really know how to curate an LP. I just don't think it's a creative urgency driving the thing, but a commercial one.

I am very enthusiastic about this new album. I already suspected that taking into account the distance between I am Easy To Find and the latest First Two Pages of Frankenstein (as well as almost 4 years old) they wouldn't just be recording material to just one album. It seems that the pandemic came really very well to the National. I do not doubt that most of the material released so far has been all recorded between 2020 and 2022.

From interviews I’ve seen I think they may not have started recording until last year. Matt was suffering from writer’s block during the pandemic.
