This song's lyrics are like an IQ test. There are plenty of references about literature, science, movies etc. Simply put the message is "be yourself and follow your path of life" because the bigger and better chess piece of the next generation will crush you at the end anyway.

It's a song that requires repeat listenings to get its full impact. I'm not sure Tuomas realised when he wrote it that "Reset The World" would become the most relevant part, given what we're going through. Something clearly has to change. I hope we're all brave enough to accept the challenge. And you should do merchandise, starting with Kyle and Marie Bobbleheads. 🤣😉

This song is about human imagination. If you take a look at the lyrics here genius.com/Nightwish-pan-lyrics you will find greyed sections with explanations/interpretations from other people worth checking out. However, I'd like to add that "something wicked their way came" could also refer to Ray Bradbury's novel "Something Wicked This Way Comes" which was filmed by Disney in 1983 since Tuomas is a big Disney fan. Cirith Ungol - Atom Smasher, off King of the Dead. Discovered them by chance in a record store in a small town in Germany where I grew up, bought the album by the cover and loved it to death. Still do. Not the most virtuoso musicians out there, but what a unique atmosphere.
