Behavioral therapist here!! Sezzy, you are doing an amazing job!!! It’s not easy to stay calm and have a neutral tone all the time, especially when it’s just one thing after another! A helpful tip that you could incorporate when fox is throwing something again is to model appropriate play/things he can throw. For example show him a squishy ball and lightly toss it whenever is appropriate to you (in the house/outside) that way he can still get that type of play but in an appropriate manner! We did that at my job with a lot of our kiddos and it definitely helped most of them! (Also great job having him go and pick it up!) ☺️

This is a very RIE approach isn't it, I learnt a lot of this from Janet Lansbury and helped soooo much with my 2nd child. When she kept climbing on the table I gave her something she could climb on instead of just stopping her. Made my life so much easier and my child was happy!

Oh honey, you are doing SO SO great. My daughter is two and I don't believe in self soothing so I have literally sat in my bed for 2 years every bedtime and nap and done sit ups to rock her to sleep holding her. It sucked. Recently, we got ourselves religiously strapped into a very structured bedtime routine, and now all I have to do is upon finishing said routine, tell her to give her dad a hug and kiss goodnight, and then I tell her to go lay in bed, I tuck her in, and we're DONE 🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻 After two years of hellish bedtime that wrecked my body, I am so thankful to say we have found our way through it as a unit. Even after this, she still woke me up literally every hour trying to get into our bed and I did indeed break at times because I needed rest. But I'm so delighted to report that she has slept through the night for two weeks now!!! It is so so so damn hard but I promise you will all find solutions along the way, together. You are all doing amazingly 💖💖💖 I loved this video. Also yes, my toddler is exactly like yours 🤣🤣🤣 pure chaos

This is so relatable to my life as a mom. I have a 3 year old son and I work from home since COVID. I wake up at 4am and start work until about 9am when my son wakes up. I to do not get to bed until almost 11pm every night or sometimes later b/c of all the mom duties and trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle. I am also in college while like I said previously work a full-time, at home, 40 hour a week job while having my 3 year old toddler her all day everyday with me. It is so exhausting and my toddler is a mess. I don't know if I exert more energy working, working out or yelling (#parenting) 🤣....your videos are awesome; keep up the good work and know that if you are a mother everyday is a struggle we just have to find the light in each day and remember to make time for ourselves everyday b/c it is easy to let self care fall through the cracks

I know you’re not asking for advice and I promise this is coming from a place of kindness because I’ve been right where you are. Also totally get that lockdown doesn’t help right now… But we put my little boy into nursery 2 mornings a week when he turned 2. It was the BEST thing we ever did for him. He gets the socialisation and stimulation from the other kids and has some routine/structure to his week. He calmed down immensely, his behaviour improved drastically and his speech came on leaps and bounds. It also gives me a bit of breathing space a couple of mornings a week cause I’m currently on mat leave with my second baby who is 10 months old x

Hi Sarah, first of all I love these kind of honest and raw blogs. I've been following you for a while and have a son almost Fox's age. I just wanted to let you know that over here in Germany more and more families have all kids sleeping in one room with the parents as long as everyone is happy with it. We never planned on doing it but somehow ended up sleeping in one huge bed with our son and (for us) it works out perfectly since nobody has to get up at night and we are all sleeping so much better. I know you probably feel a certain kind of pressure (especially from other moms or older generations) to have your child 'learn' to sleep by himself. But there are so many studies and certified people that say the exact opposite - it's so important to give this kind of safety to your child and if Fox needs you to be by his side at night right now then that's the only right thing to do. He'll want to sleep in his own bed sooner or later anyways. I think you both are doing an amazing job and there is no need to justify yourself for how you handle parenthood.

As a mom of a toddler I totally relate to this. Something that I find really helps us is to create a really calming environment after bathtime/about an hour before bedtime- dim lighting, quiet voices, read some books, minimal screen exposure. It seems to help everyone wind down. Also, I recently read the book Parenting with Love and Logic (written by Christian authors) and I really enjoyed it! You are an amazing mom and I really enjoyed watching this 🥰 Thanks for sharing!

Try not letting him sleep after 3pm. My daughter would do this at that age. I had to set a strict nap schedule and if she wouldn't nap during that I just let her run, and if she got grumpy we went to bed earlier. I conquered it as a single mom. You got this. Parenting is a learning journey. You'll find your path no matter how bumpy.

Yes your toddler is completely normal. I seriously wonder what goes through our toddler's minds!! Like why do they do what they do😅 when they give me a hard time, yes I get upset at the moment but inside I'm laughing cuz they get so creative and wild. It's just funny to me that they can even come up with these things😅🤣 I'm from a large family with so many kids growing alongside mine & all kids are so different but the toddler stage is deff one of the hardest! It's like running around saving their life all day long and taking them down everything they climb😅 your honestly doing great!! I'm sure you don't feel comfortable showing everything that truly goes on. But trust me you're not alone!!! I'm raising a few of my own and I just motivate myself by knowing I'll be old one day and I WILL MISS THIS!!! Even on days they're so tough to deal with, I look at their sweet little face and tell myself I will miss every bit of this view once I'm old and they're all grown. Single mama to a two year old - full time, full time work from home mum, We also have the added joy of another crazy lockdown here in south Africa. MY day only starts at 8pm after I've spent an hour lying next to my little one until he sleeps - won't sleep without me. Then I have to start on house work and then start my job. That puts me at around 2am bedtime every morning. this vlog just shows that parenting is hard - whichever way you have it and do it. How refreshing to see the realness of it all. I wish my toddler would eat as well as Fox! SELF SABOTAGE! Lawd! and how seen i feel when you said that. I have been guilty of family size chips too - eating my mama stress emotions. Sounds like you sometimes have what i have sometimes too - bedtime procrastination revenge - because you don't belong to yourself during the day. gahhh! I could cry - this video is NECESSARY REALNESS.

I think it's cool to see the behind the scenes and the reality of other mums with wild toddlers. Your life does look ideal, in the kindest way possible, so it's refreshing to see the "imperfect" parts, if you will. I love seeing the working late bits, the spontaneous trip for ice cream when it's bath time. It makes you more relatable 😅 My toddler is the same and lockdowns made it even worse because he can't get the energy out. You're definitely not alone, but I think you deal with his energy amazingly. You seem to be patient and explain things to him without making him upset. Very admirable.

I am a childcare educator and don’t mean to be passive aggressive in any way, but I think fox would really benefit from some daycare/learning with children. I find a lot of children at my centre really benefit from this. It is no way a reflection of your parenting at all, it may just be a way to stimulate him in a new way ❤️
@CeLiA_ABC3 жыл бұрын
I believe it may be due to NSW having a rule about unvaccinated kids not being able to be enrolled into childcare, so that could be the reason why. I guess an alternate solution is to band together and organise a private daycare group with children of similar status?

Cushions to jump over/on, pots/cardboard boxes to bang a wooden spoon on, etc. It helps get out some of that crazy hyper toddler energy in a way things like painting don’t. And if you change it up regularly, the learning how to do it/challenge of figuring it out can help their mental development. These sorts of random things saved my life when my toddler just wanted to go nutso!

Please don’t feel judged! You are totally not! My son is 4 and does the same things. He loves to he destructive and get my attention. And we also do the same thing with our routine, our son sleeps with us also, in bed, and we shower together and then read stories and go to bed. And I typically fall asleep with him too! All 3 of us in bed together lol. But I know this isn’t going to last forever so I do soak up the moments. And as far as him being destructive, I think it’s a toddler thing! And I do think they will eventually grow out of it. But I totally agree with some days are TOUGH! And that’s totally okay for you to feel that way! Just know, your an awesome mom, and allow yourself grace to have the bad days. Your doing amazing know matter what! Your definitely not alone 💗

This is not a judgment but it will help you: I have the same child. Including tantrums and being an adrenaline junkie and being crazy every night. This is NOT normal. They are amazing, energetic, charismatic kids, but most kids aren't like that all the time. Most kids are like that *some* of the time. First of all, what helps me is knowing this is Ok, I am OK. We are good parents, trying our best, just like you. Secondly, with my kid (who is just turning 6) I know there are some things that *should not* happen before bedtime, or we will be f***ed. They are: 1. Any form of screen. Not my phone, not the tablet, no TV. If I need time to make dinner, he listens to a kids podcast and plays. 2. No sugar. In any way shape or form. Not even fruit. Dinner is protein and fat and a little bit of complex carbs. If possible, make this rule for all of his meals. These kids go hyper on sugar. Fruit is good as long as it is during the day while he is active. 3. No physical play/rough play/crazy games before bedtime. You guys need to create a calm environment. Make the lighting in the house darker, speak quietly, read a story, put on relaxing music, do relaxing things only. Even if Kurt has been away all day, he should not approach Fox with enthusiasm and excitement, but a soft, loving, relaxing hug and a kiss. 4. No going out of the house, driving in the car, going to a loud, busy place (like a grocery store for example). This makes them alert and overly stimulated, which results in a "break down" of craziness later. Lastly, I know it's quarantine and you can't really meet people but it would really help make him a calmer child if he would be around kids his age, at least an hour a day. They will make him more tired and less of a house trasher. They will also set an example for him on how to behave around other people, and provide feedback that is important for his development (e.g. when he throws something at his parents he will get a certain reaction. He will not receive the same patience with kids). My kid was with us at home and with my mom like you guys do, he has a regular group of friends we meet at the park. The last last thing you already know and do: let him be physically active during the day. Swimming, bicycling, running, playing with a ball... and ofcourse eating a healthy diet. All of these helped me, I hope they can help you. P.s. he still sleeps with us, has his own bed in our room, we read a book and hold his hand til he falls asleep, which by now is 10 minutes (used to be an hour like Fox) Sending a huge hug. I can see you are loving, caring parents who only want the best for Fox.

Missed the end of the video where she said she wasn’t asking for advice?….
@reutg64783 жыл бұрын
@@septserena She said "I'm not sure I want advice because its passive aggresive". I tried to be kind. Some people's comments say I succeeded. In all honesty, the Easter vlog really broke my heart and I just felt like I have something to contribute, since I have the exact same experiences with my kid.

LOVED this kind of raw, real vlog. I have a 2 and a half year old little man and he is almost exactly how Fox is! Would never ever judge a video like this, it’s actually refreshing knowing so many other people can relate! You’re both incredible parents 🤍

If you haven't heard it today...coming from another mom...you're doing a great job. Fox is loved, happy and growing. You are the best mom in the world for that little boy. ❤️

Love these vlogs and how honest you were in this not that you’re not honest in others it just felt more raw! People will always belittle content creators and think it’s easy to upload a video but there’s a lot of back work and def alot of pressure all the time. Hope you and fox find a happy medium during this lockdown ♥️♥️

Loved it! I know this is probably sick but its nice to see the frustration and sleep deprivation and not just the fun in the sun type of days because its so much more relatable. Dont get me wrong the happy vlogs i love too because they pick my day up. But you got this momma and when baby 2 comes i feel like little man will be the biggest helper.

I’ve never related to a video more in my life!! I have a crazy 2 year old boy EXACTLY like Fox in all ways, that was like watching a video of myself (only way cuter and with better accents lol). He chucks things across the room, does everything for a reaction, and basically bounces off the walls from 6pm on, yet is the sweetest boy at the same time. Such a rollercoaster! Baby boys are the best, but CRAZYYYYYY!

I absolutely loved this. You had a very good balance with editing/real life. This is so relatable. I almost feel overwhelmed with the validation I feel. Life is hard some days but I love my son so much. I wouldn’t trade it for the world.
