i like how you watch over your kids but still allow them to be some what free range kids, i would say your kids are well ballanced kids, well done guys

Our kids have been extremely well supervised over the years. and we'll always been campers. they know the rules, and we've enforced the risks which we've passed onto them, whether it's people, water, heights, fire, and we've been with them through it many times.... we are at the stage of letting them experience it on their terms and we're always close by, and they always need to check in with us. But yes now they have a bit of freedom in good communication with their parents.

Welcome to the mainland guys. What a great start to your South Island weather wise. Great showers at the Kerry’s Bay camp. The cold temperatures don’t stop the kids from getting out and enjoying the water that’s for sure… good on them. We were there for a couple of nights while the classic boat show was on such a nice spot.

That lake at St Arnaud is gorgeous eh; already on my list, including the walk you did, from the first time you visited. Good tip on the hot tub; that hotel is also renowned for its pizzas but you have to book well early as it's a 'must do' for all the TA hikers. Have fun in Murchison; are you going to head up the hills for some snowboarding while you're there? Not sure how the snow is right now but was great 'boarding when I was up there a couple of winters' ago? I can't remember exactly where it starts but there's a nice run/walk just outside of town that follows a track to the canal and onwards, from which there's an amazing view of the mountains. Yay, normal, rock throwing antics is resumed! Have fun guys!
